Happy Monday! And a particularly happy Monday to those in Melbourne, who are enjoying their first day of extended freedoms today - Hooray!

The wait is over. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be the next US president and vice president.

For the first time in history, the US vice president will be a woman. And she’s a Black and South Asian American, a child of immigrants – and a total badass. We are thrilled by ’s history-making victory. And we hope she is only the first of many women who will hold her office.

ran and won on a platform of supporting women’s rights, affordable , national and , pre-K for 3- and 4-year-olds, paycheck fairness, and other policies that will be a huge help to millions of women – especially those struggling to work while raising a family, or who will need reproductive health care at some point, which is all of us. And as women disproportionately carry the economic burden of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are optimistic that this new administration will act swiftly to help.

Today, we have more hope than we’ve had in a while. But we know that hope isn’t enough. There’s hard work ahead for all of us -- to heal the divides in our country, to carry out meaningful and impactful allyship, to be deeply engaged in dismantling systemic bias and working for equality and justice. We are eager to roll up our sleeves and do our part, alongside countless organizations and individuals who care about America and want to make it better. And we’re inspired by the millions of people who cast their votes believing that a better future is possible.

Let’s get to work.
