Mission
To create a professional network of students from all disciplines of psychology in Melbourne that will enhance their present and future studies and future careers. The APS Melbourne Branch Student Working Party is a collaboration between student representatives from the psychology societies of various Melbourne-based universities, and the Melbourne branch of the Australian Psychological S
ociety (APS). We aim to involve psychology students and provisional psychologists more in their future field and recognise the importance of these students to the future of psychology. By finding new ways to incorporate them into the APS, and to provide services to expand their knowledge and development, we hope to connect students and provisional psychologists to a network that will assist them on their path to becoming a psychologist. The APS Student Working Party will organise regular, specially tailored professional development (PD) for APS student members at heavily discounted rates (often free), maximising benefits of APS student membership. The group also aims to connect psychology students with each other, as well as with practicing psychologists and other professionals
in the field. Our PD sessions are also open to psychology students who are not APS members, and to other professionals, at slightly higher (but still heavily discounted), rates. Student membership with the APS is currently $85 per year. Further information about the APS and membership options can be found via the APS website, here: http://www.psychology.org.au/membership/become_a_member/grades_fees/
