Holstep Health proudly supports Treaty in Victoria and the Uluru Statement from the Heart – because everyone deserves to feel heard and respected.

We’re taking real steps to close health gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous people by:
• Working closely with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and Traditional Owners
• Keeping you updated with what we’re doing
• Building a fairer, healthier community – together

We were delighted to join Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and leaders at our annual dinner to connect and celebrate culture and communities last night. Read more: https://loom.ly/UniIBIc

Our first ever Holstep Health Annual Report and Quality Account is here! We launched it at our Annual General Meeting today with community members, partners, staff and our Board.

This year’s report, “Stronger communities start here”, showcases how we’ve supported children, older adults and families to thrive across our communities.

A big thank you to the two incredible speakers who shared their stories, and to everyone who joined us to celebrate.

Stronger communities truly start here.

There is no excuse for violence. Yet more than 1 in 3 women experience male aggression in their lifetime. Today we walked alongside hundreds calling for safety, respect, and change at the Walk Against Family Violence.

This marks the start of , a global campaign to end violence against women and girls.

We were honoured to have our Carer Gateway staff, who are also carers, invited to yesterday’s announcement by the Victorian Government.

Premier Jacinta Allan, Minister for Transport Infrastructure Gabrielle Williams, Minister for Carers and Volunteers Ros Spence, and Minister for Health Mary-Anne Thomas announced that carers will now receive free public transport on weekends.

As an organisation working closely with carers every day, we warmly welcome this news. We were particularly pleased to see recognition of the vital role carers play in our community and the practical steps being taken to support them.

If you or someone you know is supporting a family member or friend, visit www.carergateway.gov.au or call 1800 422 737 (Mon-Fri 8am-5pm) to find out more.

“Other carers really understand what you’re going through. You can talk to each other and know that you’re not going to be judged.”

Sue is a carer for her brother Nick, and together they love taking selfies, watching scary movies and enjoying fun days out. As a carer, Sue realised she also needed to make time for herself, so she reached out to Carer Gateway for support. Through Carer Gateway, she was connected with a peer support group, where she found a welcoming space to share experiences with others who understand.

Carer Gateway, led by Holstep Health in Victoria, offers free emotional and practical support and services for carers. Call 1800 422 727 (Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm) or visit carergateway.gov.au to find out more.

Like many carers, Sue’s journey began gradually. As her mother aged, Sue started helping to care for her brother Nick, who has Down syndrome.
