Is your occupation on the list for PR?
If you're on a Subclass 457 or 482 visa, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency through the Subclass 186 – TRT stream.

But here’s the key — it all depends on which stream you fall under:

🔹 Core Skills Stream – Your occupation must be on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL)
🔹 Specialist Skills Stream – You’ll need to be in ANZSCO Groups 1, 2, 4, 5 or 6 and meet the $135,000+ income threshold
🔹 Labour Agreement Stream – Covers roles not on the CSOL, with employer-specific agreements like DAMAs or aged care

✅ After 2 years of full-time work on a 457 or 482 visa (within the last 3 years), you may be able to transition to PR through the 186 TRT stream.

If you’re on a temporary work visa — or planning ahead for your permanent residency — it’s essential to understand your options early.

The Subclass 186 (ENS) visa is a common pathway to PR for skilled workers sponsored by an Australian employer. You may be eligible if

☑️ you’ve worked with your sponsor for at least 2 years on a Subclass 482, or

☑️ if you’re applying from overseas with at least 3 years of experience and a positive skills assessment.

If you're based in a regional area, the Subclass 494 → 191 pathway could be your route to PR — provided you meet the 191 visa requirements after 3 years on a 494.

Important Update for Employers Visa Applicants

From 1 July 2025, the Australian Government will increase skilled visa income thresholds by 4.6%, in line with annual wage indexation (AWOTE).

If you're planning to lodge a subclass 482, 186, or 494 nomination, here’s what you need to know:

🔹 Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT):
Increasing from $73,150 → $76,515
(Affects 482 & 186 Core Skills stream)

🔹 Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT):
Increasing from $135,000 → $141,210
(Affects 482 Specialist Skills stream)

🔹 Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT):
Increasing from $73,150 → $76,515
(Affects 494 & 187 RSMS—pending legislative approval)

👉 All new nominations from 1 July 2025 must meet the new threshold or market salary, whichever is higher.

These changes won’t apply to existing visa holders or nominations lodged before 1 July 2025.
