🌸 I need early nights. I'm not a night owl.
🌸 I've volunteered at Alice Project in Sarnath, India. Alice Project is a school that incorporates meditation and yoga into a standard school curriculum
🌸 I'm hyper-mobile. Some of my joints have more range of motion than the average person.
🌸 I wanted to be a social worker when I was a teenager. Later on, I was accepted into a Bachelor of Social Work but didn't accept the offer.
🌸 I have a modest veggie garden.

Winter is an opportunity to conserve and replenish your ki - your vital life energy. When you take the time to nourish your ki during the colder months, you’re building energy reserves that will support you in the more active, outward-facing seasons ahead.

Like many of you, I’ve felt naturally drawn to spring and summer. But over the past decade, I’ve consciously embraced the gifts of winter. These gifts are simple: self-care practices that help protect you against colds and viruses and restore your energy and wellbeing.

Next Monday is World Chocolate Day. Do you love chocolate? I do.

Chocolate, like black tea, contains caffeine. So, to cultivate my vital energy, I limit my dark chocolate intake.

Dark chocolate also contains antioxidants, magnesium and iron. It's delicious, so I still enjoy it in moderation.

This chocolate was gifted to me on Wednesday by my lovely client A.G. A.G. has also completed Reiki Level 1, 2 and 3a. A.G. has just returned from a trip to Japan. When he was there, he visited sacred Reiki sites and deepened his appreciation of Japanese culture.

The most common response I hear when I ask people how they feel after Reiki treatment is "I feel better". I'm always delighted to hear this. It's simple and clear. Sometimes we discuss how you feel better, at other times nothing more needs to be said.

Last Saturday afternoon, I took the opportunity to do extra self-Reiki practice. It had been a busy month in different ways, and I knew I needed more self-care time. As I lay on my couch, covered by a blanket, I felt grateful for the sun beaming in through the lounge room window. During the practice, I strongly desired to get up and move on to the next event. Can you relate to the urge to go to the next thing, even when your body, mind, and spirit want stillness? This can be a familiar feeling if you're a natural doer and engaged with life.

Sometimes, cutting Reiki practice short is beneficial for ourselves and others. But last Saturday, although I wanted to move, moving was not what I needed. Staying and deepening the practice was important.

Was I glad that I stayed with the practice? Yes. As I acknowledged my desire to move and I stayed regardless, the practice deepened. After Reiki practice, I was grounded, clear and showed up fully to be of service to my loved ones later that day.

Is the desire to move, when you know it’s beneficial to stay, a familiar part of your self-Reiki practice or Reiki treatment? Learning how to deepen into stillness is good for you and those you love.
