Q: How can I use words and intentions to support better health and wellbeing?
A: Alongside receiving or practising Reiki, creating a health and wellbeing intention can guide you on your wellness journey.

An intention is an aspiration you set for yourself. Unlike a goal, it doesn’t require strict outcomes or constant achievement. I prefer the word intention because it allows room for being human, for learning, and for life’s unexpected changes. Intentions offer direction without pressure and can support you to stay connected to what truly matters for your wellbeing.

The new year has begun. Have you set a health and wellbeing intention, or chosen theme words to guide and support you through the year ahead?

For the past few years, I’ve found it helpful to begin the year with a clear intention and a pair of theme words to return to, as needed, throughout the year. For 2026, my words are steadiness and flow. They reflect some of the qualities I value in Reiki practice.
