Today is World Sleep Day.

Quality sleep is essential for your health and wellbeing. This year’s theme, "Sleep Well, Live Better", reminds us how important good sleep is for the body, spirit and mind.

Reiki supports better sleep by regulating your nervous system and restoring balance. Many people I work with notice deeper, more restful sleep after Reiki treatments.

Do you sleep well?

Earlier this week we celebrated International Women’s Day, a time to honour the women who have shaped our society.

One of the most influential women in Reiki history is Hawayo Takata (1900–1980). Born in Hawaii, she travelled to Japan, where she learnt Reiki, and later introduced Reiki to the Western world.

Takata empowered other women to share Reiki. Of the 22 Reiki Masters she trained, 17 were women. Through this, she created opportunities for independence and purpose that continue to ripple through generations. Her legacy lives on through Reiki practitioners worldwide today.

World Cancer Day (WCD) was earlier this month. WCD promotes person-centered care, highlighting the need for compassion and empathy. It aims to turn personal stories into catalysts for change, helping to close gaps in cancer care.

How Reiki can help:

🌸 Reduces anxiety
🌸 Eases nausea and insomnia
🌸 Reduces pain

Reiki complements conventional medical treatment, it's not a replacement.

Earlier this week was Random Acts of Kindness Day, reminding us that a small, unexpected acts can brighten someone’s day and create a ripple of positivity.
It’s a perfect reminder of the Reiki principle: “Just for today, be kind.”

Today marks the first day of the Chinese New Year, bringing in the energy of the Fire Horse. While each zodiac animal repeats every 12 years, the Fire Horse appears only once every 60 years as part of the traditional element cycle, giving it a sense of rarity and significance.

In a grounded sense, Fire Horse symbolism aligns with themes familiar in Reiki practice:

🌸 clarity
🌸 aligned action
🌸 inner stability

Q: I’ve heard that people don’t touch others during a Reiki treatment. Is this true?

A: This is a common misconception about Reiki practice.

During a Reiki treatment, I may gently place my hands on different areas of your body, such as your head, shoulders, abdomen, and feet, or I may hold my hands just above these areas. Both approaches are effective and support holistic balance.

Q: How can I use words and intentions to support better health and wellbeing?
A: Alongside receiving or practising Reiki, creating a health and wellbeing intention can guide you on your wellness journey.

An intention is an aspiration you set for yourself. Unlike a goal, it doesn’t require strict outcomes or constant achievement. I prefer the word intention because it allows room for being human, for learning, and for life’s unexpected changes. Intentions offer direction without pressure and can support you to stay connected to what truly matters for your wellbeing.

🌸 Read the article “How to use words to improve your health and wellbeing” (linked in bio) for practical tips on setting supportive health and wellbeing intentions.
