“DANGER FOR DOGS ON HOT SURFACES”
IS 25 DEGREES TO HOT TO WALK YOUR DOG?

🌡️ Surface Temperature Insights

🚫Pavement reaching 50–55°C on a 25°C day is supported by studies showing that dark asphalt can absorb and retain heat, often reaching double the ambient temperature under direct sun.

🚫Sand heating to 45–50°C is typical in open beach environments, especially when dry and exposed to midday sun.

🚫Artificial turf exceeding 60°C has been documented in multiple studies, with synthetic grass known to trap heat far more than natural surfaces.

❗️These figures align with general findings from:

🔴Veterinary safety advisories and pet first aid training materials.

🔴Environmental surface temperature studies conducted in Australia and internationally.

🔴Climate data from the Bureau of Meteorology, which tracks ambient and surface temperature trends across the country.

📛 Why It Matters for Pet Safety
- Dogs’ paw pads are sensitive and can suffer thermal burns in under a minute on surfaces above 50°C.
