Recent research shows that office workers spend a staggering 90% of their day in front of a computer, with 1 in 2 reporting a recurring pain or ni**le.

2 years in and with lots of people working from home still or hot desking when in the workplace, the negative impacts of having a poor desk set up and spending prolonged hours in the same position may have taken their toll.

This can aggravate an existing condition or lead to the onset of new aches and pains such as headaches, neck or back pain and upper limb injury.⠀

Below are some tips on how to set up your desk to prevent that feeling of fatigue and pain at the end of the day: ⠀
▪️Keep your feet flat on ground ⠀
▪️Check chair height by having forearms just above desk height ⠀
▪️Make sure the top 1/3 of computer screen is at eye level ⠀
▪️Have your keyboard 10-25cm from desk edge ⠀
▪️Keep monitor to approx. one arm’s length away ⠀
▪️Make sure you have an ergonomic chair or add a lumbar support ⠀
▪️Get up every 30 mins to move around and stretch

One in five Australians will experience persistent pain at some point in their lives.

Pain is our in-built alarm system, warning us that something might be wrong. Pain is a perfectly normal response, even if it is inconvenient and disruptive. A lot of the time, pain does not indicate severe damage.

WHAT IS DRY NEEDLING?

Dry Needling uses fine filament needles for the purpose of treating muscle pain.
This treatment technique can be used to treat trigger points and overactive motor points and can elicit a local twitch response. This involuntary contraction of the trigger point can also aid in physiologic changes, further relaxing the trigger point and can help treat chronic muscle tension and spasm.

Dry needling will normally make up only a small part of your osteopathic treatment. The following conditions can respond well to Dry Needling: Headaches, Back & Neck Pain, Sporting Injuries and Persistent Pain Conditions.

Working from home again got you feeling sore?
Dr Taylor Wilcox, one of the osteopaths here at Back in Health has a great stretch for you.

"Here is a good way to release your pecs to open up your chest from that hunched over posture.

Releasing the pecs can also help relieve any pain and tightness in this area and improve range of motion of your shoulder.

Complete this on both sides!”

Thanks .taylor_osteo

As we’ve all been working from home for quite a few months now, the negative impacts of having a poor desk set up and spending prolonged hours in the same position may have taken their toll. This can lead to a number of musculoskeletal aches and pains such as headaches, stiff neck and shoulders, sore lower back, wrist or hand pain and tight hips.⠀

▪️Get up every 30 mins to move around and stretch ⠀

We hope this helps and remember if you are currently experiencing pain that is affecting your functional independence or will worsen without treatment, then we can help!
