Traditional East Asian Medicine

Traditional East Asian Medicine TEAM™ is the restoration of an authentic and forgotten ancient medical science, developed to identify herbal structures for the treatment of disease.

For Julie, TEAM is not just theory — it is a practical framework that holds up in real clinical conditions and supports consistent, reliable outcomes.

Traditional systems can often vary widely depending on the practitioner, with many variables influencing diagnosis and treatment. What Julie found with TEAM was a structure that reduced that variability. By focusing on observable findings and clear formula–disease patterns, the clinical process became more consistent and measurable.

With structure came clarity.
With clarity came accuracy.
And with accuracy came confidence in the clinic.

TEAM provides a dependable framework that brings order, precision, and repeatability back into everyday practice

Dear Practitioner,

This project has been years in the making. Countless hours of research, translation, and clinical testing have been poured into one mission: to give you a structured way to understand and apply herbal medicine so that your patients see results consistently.

Regardless if you practise TCM or Classical Chinese Medicine, this course does more than teach. It changes how you see medicine. It has been designed to help you achieve rapid, transformative growth and take your clinical skills to the next level. Your diagnosis will no longer feel scattered. Complex disease presentations will make perfect sense, and formulas will give you the results you expect and with confidence.

Further details and enrolment information can be found at www.traditionaleastasianmedicine.com.au

This is not simply another course. It is a system that will permanently change the way you think and practise.

Warm regards,
Damien Bell.

The TEAM™ course is for everybody regardless of your personal path in Chinese Medicine.

Regardless of whether one chooses to practise within a modern TCM framework, pursue a Classical lineage, or work through the methodology of Kampo medicine. It does not seek to replace any tradition, nor does it demand allegiance to a particular school or historical interpretation. Instead, TEAM™ provides a common structural language that sharpens perception across all of them.

Einstein once said,
“The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible.”

The universe is not random. It is governed by laws, structures, and patterns that are consistent and repeatable.

This is why mathematics is often called God’s fingerprint. Not because numbers are divine,
but because mathematics reveals order.

That same rules and order exists for the human body and ancient herbal formula structures.

Health and disease are not random. They do not arise from chaos. They arise from alignment or misalignment with underlying structure.

These laws are timeless.

I think the greatest mistake in herbal medicine is the belief that you can prescribe or self-prescribe herbs to nourish or tonify the body back to health.

A professor at Stanford once said something I think about often:

“It’s better to fail and know why you failed, than to succeed and not know why.”

And this is why.

When you fail and understand the why, you can learn. You can course-correct. You can change the inputs to create a different outcome.

But when you succeed without understanding why, that success is fragile. You can’t repeat it. That isn’t skill.
It’s luck.

Something I realised in China, and with many “famous” practitioners across the world, is that memorised information always collapse in clinic. The moment a difficult or complex disease presents, the practitioner’s ability collapses with it. True understanding, however - when founded on evidence-based feedback - gives you the ability to pivot and apply information in a practical setting, regardless of how difficult or complex the illness or disease presentation is.

To the Han Dynasty physician whose work points us to the truth of herbal medicine — thank you, Zhang Zhongjing.

Galen (c. 129–216 AD), a highly influential Greek physician, surgeon, and philosopher in the Roman Empire stated, “For many years I struggled to clearly feel the movement of contraction, and I set the matter aside until I gained enough knowledge to fill that gap. After that, the doors of the pulse were opened to me. Anyone who studies this as I did will perceive what I perceived—like a sudden light emerging from complete darkness. Whoever accepts this as true will gain greatly; he will not fall into despair nor be frightened away from study, even if for many years he makes no progress.

Todo Yoshimasu states that there are no difficult disease presentations - they only appear difficult until someone with greater understanding comes along to make it look simple.

In my experience with Chinese medicine, I’ve learnt that the true test of what you know, and don’t know, isn’t measured by the books you’ve read, or beautiful words you can say and write. It’s in the clinic, being in fire, faced with real challenges, can your true limitations and understanding be revealed.

I was asked: “What’s the most important method to understand and prescribe herbs?”
