He first remembers massaging at 7 during his cousin’s wedding reception.. This, might seem odd for a 7 year old, but Osteopathy runs deep in his blood. His grandfather practiced alternative medicine for 60 years and 2 older cousins have gone on to become Osteopaths. Bryden also knew about the benefits of Osteopathy from his parents. Renowned Osteopath, Maxwell Fravel, treated Bryden’s mother when she was pregnant with him and when he was a child. Maxwell also significantly helped his father through the impacts of a fractured skull resulting from an accident. Bryden’s history laid the foundation and upon learning of the principles of Osteopathy and the foundation that it is based, his desire to study Osteopathy was complete. He graduated from RMIT University in Melbourne after completing a Bacc. App. Science (Complementary Medicine Osteopathy) and a Masters of Osteopathy. Further experience was gained through massage and sports training with athletic and sports teams (e.g. VFL team Coburg Tigers). With a focus to continually strive to improve his treatment capabilities, he went to Canberra for 5 years to practice and to be mentored by Maxwell Fraval (who had by then been practicing for nearly 40 years) and other experienced Osteopaths within the highly regarded Practice. He has now returned to Melbourne. Bryden has developed and utilises a range of techniques including manipulation, massage, dry needling and stretching, as well as patient education and exercise prescription as he works with his patients to come up with solutions to their medical concerns. Through effective assessment, diagnosis and treatment, Bryden continues to be able to guide his patients to a better understanding of their body, preventative regimes and, importantly, provide symptomatic relief. Bryden is committed to his professional development and frequently takes part in postgraduate courses, in Australia and overseas. In an effort to complement structural treatment approaches, Bryden has developed skills in Cranial and Biodynamic techniques, which although more subtle, may have a profound effect on stressed tissues and individual complaints. He has a keen interest and capability in treating a wide variety of conditions affecting people of all ages, including children and babies. On the personal side, Bryden is an avid traveller and enjoys learning about other cultures and their culinary delights. He continues to learn Spanish and enjoys conversing when the opportunity arises. He loves connecting with nature and frequently goes on camping and fishing trips, enjoying the simple beauty of the environment and the feel of the earth between his toes.
