Autumn is the season of harvest, gathering natures products before winters rest. Marking a time where we begin to turn inwards.
As the warm earthy meadows receive the last of fruits fallen from the trees and branches begin to let go of their leaves. The materialisation of the Yang seasons return back into the depths of the Earth. Cycling back into minerals and nutrients the Earth can use again.
Earth is the change in the pivot, where we to come into transition.
It is in this season we to begin to descend, out of communality and we start to individualise and return more into the self. In doing so we change the emphasis from what we are taking in, to what we keep and what we let go of.
Autumn invites us to begin the process Refinement.
As we unwind, release and let go

Join me this April for Autumns Shiatsu Yin Immersion. A invitation to begin your journey inwards as we lean into our Yin Seasons.

Love will never ask for you to be perfect

love only asks if you will stay and hold their hand when the storm comes

love doesn't require you to be flawless
it just requires you to be present

love won't ever give you a grade

Its such an honour to be able to Share the practice of Shiatsu Yin within the community of Melbourne.
These two practices I have found greatly beneficial for my own personal self.
They have both separately given me an understanding of my body. Offering stillness and awareness within.
Given tools to listen and learn what my body needs. How
replenishing and nourishing these practices are. How vitalising and Qi building Shiatsu and Yin yoga are for the whole body and state of being.

I come from a very Yang background, as many of us do. From very of physical Yang movement and also life here in Melbourne, is Yang.(fast moving).
What im finding more is we need less stimulation and more relaxation. Less activity and more rest.
Shiatsu Yin restores the body, activating your rest and digest nervous system. Allows the body to unravel the holdings of daily life. It lets us be soft, coming into that Yin state of being. Creates a flow of Qi and blood along the meridian lines targeted. Balancing the body back into health and harmony.

The Yin is as important as the Yang.
As the Pine trees shoot for the sky and light, sturdy and strong in form. The Bamboo gently bends in the breeze. Adapting to all conditions the weather brings.
Just like nature, we to can harness these qualities to create equilibrium within.

Spring 🌼 the birthing cycle of all seasons. A time for creating, planning and setting new intentions. A time when ideas, goals and dreams are brought into manifest.
Its a season to try new projects, hobbies and interests.

Its a time to start to have movement within the body, eat lighter and come out of the Yin state of being of Winter.

This can be a time to cleanse internally and externally, to support your body.
Shiatsu and Shiatsu Yin offer support for the body’s Qi and blood flow.
With this we can support the body’s sinews, by lubricating the tendons, ligaments and joints. Which gives ourselves more flexibility and movement through space.
We can find a smoother transition with more flow and ease.

If your thinking about doing a Spring Cleanse. Now is the time.
The liver is the Yin Organ of the wood element. Spring is the time of year when the Wood element is at is peak and the organs Liver and Gallbladder are most open. The colour of the wood element is Green and the liver loves dark leafy greens like kale 🥬, fast shoot greens like sprouts and the flavour of sour suck as lemons and limes. Fermented foods are also fantastic for liver health.
In general in Spring eating lightens up from the more heavier warming foods of winter. The liver’s qualitiy is movement. As we see the this in nature, movement rising up and out of the earth. The Liver moves Qi and Blood and eating according to the element will assist the liver function.
Chlorophyll is one of the strongest healing agents to man and the active part that gives all plants the colour green. Chlorophyll hold magnesium and resembles hematin, a substance that when combined with protein forms hemoglobin, the large molecule that carries oxygen in our blood.
Green plants and chlorophyll absorb energy from the sun, water and earth and make suger, starch and protein.
Greens have a moderate amount of proteins, and many contain calcium, phosphorus and vitamins C,E and A.
Also they are delicious, refreshing and cooling.
The liver filters the blood of toxins and breaks down for elimination. Liver aids in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins which helps keeping blood sugar levels regulated by changing fats and proteins into glucose which goes back into our cells again for storage.

As we start to move towards The season of Spring. We can feel that warmth in the sunshine, smell of wattle in the air. Magnolias and cherry blossoms start to bloom. There is a sense of new life beginning to sprout.
Elementally we submerge from the depths of the water, the deepest part of Yin (winter), a time of inwards by nature and a space for contemplation and reflection. We currently reside wood in water. Wood the element of Spring, has qualities of creativity, movement and flexibility.
As the seasons change, we change.
We are being offered a time of new possibilities and self expression, adapting qualities of Wood, to have movement within ourselves and live’s, be creatively expressive of oneself, and to be flexible with change.

Shiatsu assists the flow within. Allowing Qi, blood to move, eliminating an excess (holdings) physical and emotional. So we may also have this upwards and outwards expression, of ourselves.

Shiatsu Yin we incorporate the two practices of Yin Yoga and Shiatsu touch to offer you a deeper and more nourishing experience while holding Yin postures.

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of body work. Shiatsu has adopted the same philosophy and principles of East Asian Medicine. This form of bodywork creates flow and balance of Qi and allows release for any physical or emotional holdings.

Yin poses are held for 4 - 5 minutes. In which each pose helps open and release the deepest layer of the muscle, the fascia, where the meridian lines lie. East Asian Medicine works towards and into Meridian Lines to supports the body’s functioning. Both Shiatsu and Yin Yoga marry up beautifully to target the meridian lines and assist in nourishing and strengthening the areas of focus.

When holding these Yin Yoga postures an experienced Shiatsu practitioner will come around to the area and meridian of focus and offer Shiatsu touch, including palming, finger pressure, and acupressure holds to enhance the Yin Yoga postures.

Miso soup and Nori are rich in vitamins E and A and high in proteins. They stimulate and strengthen skin, hair, nails and nourish our endocrine system. Especially our thyroid and adrenal glands. Which are housed by the kidney and bladder Meridians, governed by the water element, the season of Winter.
Miso can be used as a daily broth and is great as a afternoon drink and to assist post work symptoms, such as headaches, irritability and general low energy.
It also provides the body with the daily salt needs. The kidney likes salt, natural salt that we find in our foods, like from the Ocean. Not added salt which to much can damage the blood, cause fluid retention and create poor circulation.
So my friends, a cup of miso a day, wont go astray. Giving your organs Kidney and Bladder which govern the water element, some daily nourishment.
