Mary O'Brien Couple Counselling

Mary O'Brien Couple Counselling I now see couples online. I work with couples who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship or who may be in the process of separating.

I work with couples who are having difficulties in their relationships, helping them to reflect on unhelpful patterns, to communicate more effectively and to feel more connected with each other. I help couples to better understand the dynamics of their relationship and the negative cycles that may be undermining it. I help them to hear each other in new ways; to understand their reactive patterns

and gain new perspectives on their conflict; to move from blame to collaboration and deeper connection. I teach skills and strategies to reduce conflict so that they can live together more harmoniously and enjoyably. Those who are separating gain a deeper understanding of what has brought and them to this point. They have the opportunity to process the emotions (grief, loss, anger) that they are currently experiencing, which helps them to move on & reduce the heartache for their children. The process also allows the couple to recognise the good that they've experienced in the relationship together. I also work with individuals who are experiencing the challenges of relationships, life transitions, stress and anxiety, illness and ageing, grief and loss.

All of us could probably get better at empathy, but men in particular tend to be raised in our society to focus on facts and solutions rather than feelings and relationships. Here is a list of questions a husband can ask his wife in order to be more empathic.
