Does your Nervous System need some love? ❤️‍🩹
Time to check in with your body -

Didn’t get a whole new nervous system when the clock struck 12:01 on January 1st? Me neither! ☹️

Now that the silly season is behind us and we are a few weeks into the new year, take a quiet moment to check in with your body and ask how it’s feeling.

• sit in stillness, no distractions
• place your hands on your body if you like
• take some deep inhales, slow exhales
• notice what arises - physical sensations, thoughts, feelings, pain, discomfort

👉🏽 Does sitting quietly make you anxious or edgy?
👉🏽 Do you have to be “productive” at all times?
👉🏽 Does rest make you feel guilty?

If you answered yes to any of those questions and/or have been experiencing any of the following symptoms:

🧠 Brain Fog or Memory issues
🧠 Inability to concentrate
🧠 Stuck in daily scroll holes
🧠 Digestive issues
🧠 Sensitivity to caffeine
🧠 Fatigue
🧠 Feeling emotionally numb or disconnected
🧠 Chronic pain or illness
🧠 Anxiety

There is likely some nervous system dysregulation to get on top of in order for you to thrive in 2025.

Remember your daily brain health basics that cost you absolutely nothing:

💦 Hydration
🌞 Sunlight
👟 Steps
💤 Sleep
🌳 Nature

Making time for play, and connection with your community and loved ones is also integral to your wellbeing.

If you’ve been feeling off center - what can you add more of from the above to nourish your nervous system? 🤍

This time of year can feel very overwhelming for many. Extra social events, work deadlines and that weird existential pressure that everyone feels to achieve something before the year is out.
(You don’t have to - time is a construct 🤪)

Whether it’s a happy festive period for you or a time that brings up grief and complicated emotions, both can put extra pressure on your nervous system and leave you feeling ungrounded and frazzled.

If you feel the need for some extra nervous system support during this time, I would love to help.

Four ways physical touch is healing for your nervous system. Bodywork is more than just a luxury! 👉🏽

1️⃣ Calming and Down Regulation
Gentle and intentional touch encourages the body to calm, activating the parasympathetic nervous system and bringing you out of fight or flight and into rest and digest.

The first step in any session is to bring you back to a calm and receptive state, using bodywork and neuro techniques that lower blood pressure, assist in releasing emotions, increase vAgal tone and reduce anxiety.

2️⃣ Safety and Connection
massage, hugs and intentional touch (when entered into in a fully consenting environment) create a sense of safety and connection which triggers the release of our feel good hormone - Oxytocin.

oxytocin facilitAtes healing through reducing inflammation and blood pressure, Activating the parasympathetic nervous system and reducing anxiety.

3️⃣ Emotional Release and Pain Relief
Emotional pain often manifests as physical tension, discomfort or dysfunction. Neuro balancing techniques and bodywork can assist in connecting back into your body and releasing these suppressed emotions.

Oxytocin also works to reduce physical pain by blocking pain signals and can provide relief for chronic pain sufferers.

4️⃣ Lymph Flow and Drainage
Bodywork encourages flow in your body.

This includes shifting stagnant energy and literally getting your lymph fluid flowing.
Tense muscles can restrict this flow causing inflammation and fluid retantion, brain fog, immune issues, Skin problems and digestive issues.

Ensuring the brain and body is draining lymph efficiently is essential for nervous system health.

But I promise, there isn’t 🤍
Your body is simply dysregulated.
Your nervous system believes it’s keeping you safe.

Setting up your day in the right way: Five easy morning habits to reduce anxiety 🧠

1️⃣ Sunlight in your eyes - Sunlight in your eyes as early as possible is great for your circadian rhythm, improving sleep, balancing your hormones and increasing mood boosting vitamin D and serotonin.

2️⃣ High protein breakfast - Starting your day with a high-protein breakfast instead of a carbohydrate-heavy meal will help stabilize your blood sugar throughout the day. This will prevent crashes and cravings, enhance focus, and support dopamine production.

3️⃣ Coffee after food - Starting your day with coffee before eating can significantly contribute to a day filled with anxiety. It raises cortisol levels and causes fluctuations in blood sugar, And is also tough on your stomach lining. While enjoying coffee is one of life’s simple pleasures, it’s important to approach it with caution if you’re susceptible to anxiety.

4️⃣ Move your body - Engaging in physical activity triggers the release of endorphins and reduces cortisol levels. While gentle movement is often recommended for managing anxiety over intense workouts, it’s essential to pay attention to what feels right for your body.

5️⃣ Write it out - Write a list, journal some free pages or brain dump your thoughts in the morning to feel clearer, more organized and lessen looping thoughts or ruminations.
Ticking off a to-do list is a great dopamine boost and better for your brain than scrolling.

Brain Health Basics 🧠👉🏽 ever found yourself feeling off? Brain foggy, sluggish, sad, anxious, scattered, unable to focus or get anything done?

Step number 1 - Check yourself and your daily habits, these are so simple that they can often get neglected despite being incredibly important in keeping us regulated.

Here is a five point checklist for the next time you’re not feeling yourself:

1️⃣ Sunshine - Getting sunlight in your eyes (especially in the morning) helps regulate our circadian rhythm, improves sleep, supports production of Vitamin D and increases serotonin therefore boosting your mood.
Goes without saying, please do not stare directly at the sun, indirect light is more than okay!

2️⃣ Plant your feet - Getting your bare feet onto the earth will ground you, connect you back to nature, reduce stress, improve circulation and reduce inflammation.
Combine your earthing time with a meditation, mindfulness or movement practice for a double dose of brain love.

3️⃣ Daily walks - Hitting the pavement is a non-negotiable for your brain health! As well as decreasing stress and improving fitness, it has been shown that even 30 mins a day will strengthen communication between all parts of your brain; improving memory, problem solving, decision making and focus.

4️⃣ Sleep Hygiene - Prioritise that rest! Are you getting your 8 hours?
Keep a consistent bedtime and wake up schedule. Limit/cut out screen time for 2 hours before bed time.
Dont forget your sunlight in the morning.
Avoid stimulants like caffeine after noon.
Limit alcohol as much as you can - while it may feel like it helps you sleep it is actually detrimental to sleep quality.

5️⃣ Hydration - Even mild dehydration can impair cognitive function, concentration and mood. Staying hydrated supports memory and focus, and improves over all cellular function.
Pop a pinch of celtic sea salt in your water bottle, it provides important trace minerals and maximises absorption!

I hope you found this to be helpful 😊 leave me a brain emoji in the comments 🧠 or send me a DM if you would like a Brain Health Basics pdf to keep as a gentle reminder of easy daily steps you can take to regulate 🤍
