We’re excited to have been recognised as a National Nominee in the Service Company of the Year category at the Australian Event Awards 2025!🥂

Being named alongside some of the most respected companies in the industry with a score of 86.8/100, was a huge honour and a reflection of the incredible work our team continues to deliver across Australia and New Zealand.

While we didn’t take home the trophy this year, the experience was one for the memory books. It was great to be amongst so many inspiring professionals who are shaping the future of sustainable and innovative event delivery.

Demonstrating their dedication to conducting sustainable races, organisers IRONMAN Oceania worked with us to manage waste at the renowned, IRONMAN Western Australia & IRONMAN 70.3 Western Australia.

In our third year overseeing the event, our team saved 82.5% of waste from landfill. In addition to paper, cardboard and other mixed recyclables, this included:
✅ More than 5,000 containers recycled through Return-It Australia, resulting in a generous $500 contribution to be donated to Busselton Hospice Care Incorporated and
✅ More than 145,000 paper cups recycled through Simply Cups Australia New Zealand

A bucket-list race for many athletes around the world for its stunning location, but also for its low waste impact!

Over the years, Closed Loop has proudly managed the event waste, cleaning and sustainability for Events ACT’s Floriade.

Last year, more than 84 tonnes of waste was separated over the month-long event in Canberra. Of this, more than 76% of waste was sent for recycling or composting.

Waste can be used as a resource and thanks to Floriade 2023:

✅ More than 135,000 paper cups will be recycled with Simply Cups Australia New Zealand to make roads and lightweight concrete
✅ 456,000 eligible containers were collected for ACT CDS
✅ More than $2,000 was donated to Roundabout Canberra from ACT CDS earnings
✅ More than $2,000 was donated to The Indigenous Marathon Foundation from ACT CDS earnings

Compared to 2022, Closed Loop and Floriade have saved an additional 7 tonnes from ending up in landfill!

Recently, students from Monash University Art Design & Architecture showcased Save Board at their exhibition as one of the innovative products being considered for future projects and designs. Other products included chairs made from car tyres and sustainable fabrics.

If you have food waste, you have a resource. The Sharp Group's, Flying Brick Cider Co are recycling their food waste with a Closed Loop commercial composter.

With our unique composter technology, food waste is made into a nutrient-rich compost in less than 24 hours. Flying Brick Cider Co combine their nutrient-rich compost on-site with soil to fertilise their vineyard.

Sustainable practices can also be cost effective with commercial composters reducing landfill costs and other resource costs.

The Sharp Group have since installed commercial composters at all other venues including Leura Park Estate, Yes said the Seal and Jack Rabbit.

Born from a passion of incredible food and capturing memories, Dean wanted to share his family’s traditional loukoumades with his hometown, bringing St Gerry’s to life. Over the past 9 years, you may have experienced St. Gerry’s loukoumades across a range of events such as the Moomba, Greek Lonsdale St Festival, F1 Grand Prix and celebrating love at weddings.

St.Gerry's has been a local favourite for many, and have been on a mission to build their sustainability profile. From managing food waste to staff and consumer education, one of their key sustainability pillars is ensuring all their packaging is recyclable.

Through a custom-made design, Closed Loop have worked with St. Gerry’s to create a unique tray which:
✅ acts as a tray and lid, removing the need for separate products
✅ is more cost effective
✅ absorbs oil and sauces, creating a mess-free experience for consumers
✅ can be recycled in your kerbside recycling bins
✅ can be home composted
✅ creates uniformity amongst all 3 locations, the St. Gerry’s food truck and franchisees

It’s great to see St. Gerry’s serve sensational food, while caring for our planet.

Our initiative, Simply Cups Australia New Zealand, is Australia's largest paper cup recycling program!

Simply Cups collects all types of paper cups and works with innovative new technologies to turn the recycled cups into something new.

Currently Simply Cups has:
✅ Collected over 40 million paper cups
✅ 341 schools across Australia enrolled in 7-Eleven's Cup Rescue Schools Program
✅ 1,500+ collection locations across Australia
✅ 3 sustainable products the cups are made into; lightweight concrete slabs, asphalt & sustainable building materials

With over 1.8 billion hot drink cups being used each year in Australia, Simply Cups was created to end waste and find practical solutions to recycling paper cups including coffee cups and take-away soft drink cups.

Earlier this year, we worked with National Gallery of Victoria to help provide a sustainable exhibition by incorporating Save Board, sustainable building materials, in their Alexander McQueen: Mind Mythos Muse exhibition.

By selecting saveBOARD, the NGV proudly repurposed over 2,500kg of waste materials in their Alexander McQueen exhibition.
