On Friday I worked my last day as a Credentialled Diabetes Educator as I have now retired. I have been privileged to work with and support people with diabetes for 31 years. I have learnt so much from them about strength and resilience over the years.
Bayside diabetes consultancy has been in operation for more than 20 years and has a client base of 75 people with diabetes. Emma Netzer will now be the owner of this practice and the business name . I hand over my practice to the very capable hands of Emma and wish her all the very best for the future. I will enjoy watching where she takes this practice and her journey ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™
Thank you to my loyal clients and all the amazing colleagues I have worked with over the years. It has been a privilege.

This World Diabetes Day, we highlight the importance of wellbeing as a part of diabetes management and care. At Diabetes Victoria, we would like to thank everyone involved in supporting the journeys of our diabetes community. Without our incredible researchers, volunteers, members, donors, and staff we would not be able to continue the work we do to ensure that every person impacted by diabetes is able to live well, with confidence.

When we priortise wellbeing, we move closer to a healthier future for all people affected by diabetes.

Celebrating world diabetes day ๐Ÿ™ congratulations to D.T.R.G on all the amazing work you do to improve the life of people...

Getting in early with a Happy Birthday for Sir Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, discovered insulin in 1922.

Each year, on Bantingโ€™s birthday (14 November), we mark . An opportunity to reflect on the discovery of insulin and the millions of lives insulin has saved.

And in keeping with the global World Diabetes Day theme for 2024, an opportunity to start a conversion about well-being for a better diabetes life. Something weโ€™ll have a bit to talk about tomorrow.

Great to see the Dexcom G7 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system launched in Australia.

Many Australians will be familiar with the Dexcom G6 and will have heard about the availability of the G7 overseas.

We know the lag between when new technologies like this are available in other countries and when theyโ€™re available in Australia causes frustration for people living with diabetes. We will continue to advocate for changes to approval processes and funding pathways to ensure Australians can access the technology they need to live well.

The G7 is not yet subsidised via the NDSS for people living with type 1 diabetes, however we will communicate information in the future as things change.

This National Diabetes Week, we are celebrating the important advancements in diabetes technology that have transformed daily life for Australians living with diabetes.

In the 1970s, insulin pumps were introduced, offering people with diabetes the convenience of having insulin released throughout the day as needed.

Join us in celebrating these life-changing advancements.
