6.9 million Australians are living with a musculoskeletal condition right now - that's more than 1 in 4 of us.

Back pain alone accounts for over $3.4 billion in annual healthcare costs and 177,000 hospital admissions.

Evidence-based chiropractic care is a safe, effective, and cost-efficient part of the solution, yet it remains underutilised in Australia's health system.

That's what Chiropractic Australia is working to change.

Let's set the record straight.

MYTH: Chiropractors only treat bad backs.
FACT: Chiropractors are university-trained allied health professionals focused on the assessment, diagnosis, and management of musculoskeletal conditions, including neck pain, headaches, sports injuries, and more.

MYTH: You need a GP referral to see a chiropractor.
FACT: Chiropractors are primary care practitioners; you can book directly, no referral needed.

Have a question about what chiropractic care can help with?

08/04/2026

Back pain holding you back? You don't need a referral to see a chiropractor.

Chiropractic Australia members are evidence-based practitioners — meaning your care is guided by the best available research, their clinical expertise, and your individual needs.

Happy World Health Day! 🌍

This year's theme from the WHO is "Together for health. Stand with science" - and we think that's something every chiropractor in Australia can get behind. 💙

Every day you show up guided by evidence, ethics, and a genuine commitment to your patients' wellbeing. That is standing with science. That is what this day is about.

The 2026 campaign invites people everywhere to celebrate scientific achievements, engage with evidence, and share personal stories of how science improves lives.

What does evidence-based care look like in your practice? We'd love to hear from you 👇
