✨We are really quite incredible…I mean that genuinely
I know we don’t often believe it, and get caught up in the busyness of life and being on automatic that we don’t stop to create a greater awareness around it, but truly, we are ALL incredible
Once we become more in tune with or bodies we get to know ourselves better. We learn what it can withstand, and what it can’t.
Here are some techniques that may help you feel, hear, and then honour what its needs.
🧘🏻Take a Breather
Deep diaphragmatic breathing reduces the stress associated with the “fight or flight” response. Taking a few moments in the day to focus on your breath can make a significant difference and enhance your mind-body connection.
🙆♀️Stretch it Out
When we are tense our body manifests that tension, whether with a clenched jaw, tight shoulders, or balled fists. Taking the opportunity throughout the day to stretch is another excellent way to reconnect with the sensations in your body.
💦 Hydrate
Staying hydrated by drinking enough water is a simple, but vital component of optimal physical, emotional, and mental health.
Studies show that even mild dehydration can have a significant impact on our mood, energy, and even ability to think clearly.
🌳 Break Out
Taking a break and stepping away from your work or focused activity provides an opportunity to get in touch and connect with the present moment and sensations in your body.
💃 Move to the Beat
Dancing and singing, whether we think we’re good at it or not, is an instant mood booster and another way to reconnect with the sensations in the body.
The root word for emotion in Latin, emovere, means “to move through”, and movement helps us to let our emotions move through us and out of us.
👃 Engage your Senses
When we’re “in our heads” we often lose sight of how powerful our physical senses can be. Taking the time to engage your sense of smell, taste, touch, and hearing is another great way to bring attention back to the body.
