🍫 The Truth About Cravings (It’s Not What You Think)
We’ve all heard the claim: “If you’re craving chocolate, you must need magnesium.”
Sounds nice… but science says it’s not that simple.
Most cravings are not your body’s way of signalling a nutrient deficiency, they’re more often tied to habits, emotions, restrictions, or simple pleasure.
When we label certain foods as “off-limits,” our brain starts to want them more. This builds an unhealthy push–pull relationship with eating which can turn one bite into a binge.
Instead, try this:
✔ Allow yourself to enjoy the foods you’ve been avoiding for years, yes, even chocolate or chips.
✔ Remind yourself that it’s okay to have them occasionally, you’re in charge.
✔ Over time, your brain learns there’s no emergency to “get it all in now,” and the cravings naturally calm down.
Cravings aren’t the enemy. Restriction is.
Food freedom starts when you stop fighting with your plate.
