πŸ‘‡ Why I take part in Mates in March πŸ‘‡

🀐 This is what 'Mental Health' looks like - Taken in the midst of the pandemic, I was feeling pretty wobbly around the time of this picture. My internal turmoil was in direct contrast to the smiling larrikan pictured.

πŸ‘₯️ This is what 'Mateship' looks like - The very next week after this photo was taken, I had a panic attack running out onto the ground at halftime. A teammates of 10 years, the bloke next to me put his arm around me and let me know he had my back once more.

πŸ’‘ My Point - Mental health can present in a million different ways, its not just the quiet ones you have to watch out for, and never underestimate how important you can be to someone experiencing difficulty. A sympathetic ear, a hand on the shoulder, a show of solidarity means more than you might imagine.

πŸ’° The Cause - Outside the Locker Room are a charity delivering mental health workshops in community sporting clubs across Australia, with people such as myself using our experiences to normalise the discussion and improve the literacy of mental health. Their Mates in March is an important fundraiser in allowing them to continute the work they do.

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈThe Challenge - From March 1st - 9th, I'll be running 9km a day for 9 days to highlight the 9 people we lose to su***de every day in Australia. You can donate via the link below or show your support by simply reaching out to friend and starting a converstion about mental health this March.

After first being a client of Connect Health and Movement over 15 years ago, I'm rapt to be joining the awesome team at their Kensington clinic.

I'll be up to my usual, dry needle poking, bad joking, trigger point stoking antics on Monday and Wednesday's from next week!

I look forward to seeing you there.

Some exciting things happening in 2023 however before any of that, I'd like to sincerely thank Paul and the team at Premier Health Partners for an awesome 5 years.

Supportive staff and friendly clients have made it fun to come to work every day.

I'll be here until the end of the month for you to come in and say hello.

It's possible to support the need for a public health response but disagree with the decision making process.

Myotherapists are highly trained Allied Health professionals currently prevented from providing important work to clients under current Lockdown Restrictions.

Please sign and share this petition to support our voice.

And while you're at it, get vaccinated; the time for waiting is over.

Myotherapists need to be a permitted part of the solution

Whilst we continue to fight for recognition and respect as an industry, the good news is at the very least we will back to work under stage 3 restrictions at the beginning of November.

So after what feels like an eternity I'm pleased to say appointments can now be made at Sunbury Physiotherapy Clinic and Premier Health Partners from Monday 2nd November.

If you're as stiff and sore as I am, we've got some work to do!!

Victorians can have face-to-face appointments with a range of allied health providers for the first time in months, but are not permitted to book remedial massages with myotherapists.

With the curve flattening and news Myotherapy has been approved as an essential service during COVID-19, I'm getting rid of the beard and getting back to work!

In clinic treatment will be resuming from next week, with bookings available by calling Sunbury Physiotherapy Clinic and Premier Health Partners or getting in touch via the page. I look forward to seeing all.

I've received a heap of great nominations for everything from push-ups, to 5km runs and photos of me playing footy; thanks Ryan, Adam, Lisa and Nick.

Below is a receipt for my donation to Beyond Blue because it has never been more important to prioritise mental health!

Keep in mind it's physical distancing not social distancing, so pick up the phone and call your mates and family. We're all doing it tough and we're going to get through these unprecedented times together.

I can't wait to see you all soon.

26/03/2020

For those of you who haven't been notified already, I temporarily suspended all bookings earlier this week.

I welcome you all to contact me directly via this page or email (dan@danwhitemyotherapy.com.au) if you need any advice around; home exercise programs, injury management, stretching or general health. All of which will be provide free of charge.

In times such as these it is important to do the right thing not the easy thing; so if you want life to return to normal, want footy and the pub back, if you want to protect your livelihood and you family; stay home, maintain social distancing, wash those damn hands and lets flatten the curve.

I look forward to seeing you all soon.

In case you've been living under a rock (or self-isolating) you might be aware of the ongoing uncertainty regarding Coronavirus or COVID-19; the linked article provides a great fact check as a starting point for people addressing some of the genuine concerns as well as some of the misinformation currently getting around.

As a Myotherapist its business as usual, following advice from my colleagues the good doctors at Premier Health Partners, Massage & Myotherapy Australia and the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services (https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/health-services-and-general-practitioners-coronavirus-disease-covid-19).

I'm healthy, the clinics are maintained in accordance with the highest levels of hygiene set out by my code of practice and so treatment continues.

The major risk to all of us in this time is community transmission so if you feel unwell, stay home, seek further advice and take it easy for a few days.

For the rest of us stay informed, be patient, treat one another with kindness and compassion; and remember calm is contagious.

As always get in touch if you have any questions.
