National Reconciliation Week is here, and we’re All in.

The 2026 theme, All In, is a call for all Australians to commit to reconciliation every single day.

"All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

The theme also reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us." - Reconciliation Australia

Food Allergy Week 2026 highlights the importance of raising awareness about food allergies to help keep Australians with food allergies safe.

This week is focuses on the awareness and education of anaphylaxis to improve the safety for people living with food allergies.

Recognising the signs and being ready to react to people with food allergies, can help reduce the risk of allergic reactions and help keep the community safe.

This Food Allergy Week, we are supporting to help raise awareness for Australians living with food allergy. They have food allergy education resources available for teachers and students. Additionally, a free online Adrenaline Hub resource was created, providing information to help us recognise signs of anaphylaxis and how best to respond.

📣 Reminder for teachers!

Australian primary and secondary school teachers are invited to take part in a short online survey exploring confidence and attitudes around food and nutrition messaging in schools.

How food is talked about at school can shape students’ experiences and relationships with food. This research will help inform future recommendations to support more positive and effective messaging in school settings.

The survey is being led by A/Prof Gabriella Heruc and the research team at Western Sydney University and University of Newcastle, and takes around 15 minutes to complete.

The theme for this year’s National Sorry Day is From Sorry to Action. The call is clear, we must move from words to action, and this needs to happen now, not in another decade.

Acknowledging past harm is important, but acting to address it is critical. Sorry signals compassion, action delivers justice.

We encourage you to mark National Sorry Day on 26 May, and to stand with us to ensure this day is part of an ongoing commitment to truth-telling and healing.

Research and partnerships play an important role in shaping supportive food environments and improving health outcomes for communities.

National Nutrition Foundation was proud to be part of the Deakin University Faculty of Health Partnerships in Practice Awards, hosted by Dr Norman Swan earlier this week.

Christina had the pleasure of presenting the Early-Career Researcher Award to Dr Edith Holloway for her work leading the LISTEN project, a scalable, evidence-based telehealth program that supports people living with diabetes to managed diabetes-related distress and the emotional load of their condition.

As a proud partner of Deakin, NNF values opportunities to support collaboration between research, practice and community impact. Evidence underpins the work we do, and it’s always exciting to see new ideas and research contributing to positive change for communities.

This Dietitians Week, we’re celebrating the collective impact of dietitians helping turn evidence into action for healthier communities.

We asked our team dietitians, Ricky and Andie, what they wish more people knew about their work and the role dietitians play in supporting healthier food environments across early childhood services, schools, health services and communities.

Their work is a reminder that dietitians do so much more than provide nutrition advice. They help shape systems, support practical change and make healthier choices easier for more people.

Happy Dietitians Week to all the dietitians creating impact every day. 👏

🎉 Young people shaping how food is talked about in schools

SHiNE is inviting Australian students aged 8–18 to take part in a fun, interactive workshop (online or in person) exploring the food and nutrition messages they experience at school.

This is a chance for young people to share what feels helpful, what doesn’t, and what could be done differently. Their input will help researchers from Western Sydney University better understand how messaging can be made safer, more supportive and more meaningful for students.

How we talk about food matters. Creating positive, inclusive food environments starts with listening to young people themselves.
