Today is World Alzheimer’s Day, a day dedicated to raising global awareness and challenging the stigma around Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

At Home Care Assistance, we believe that caring for the mind is just as important as caring for the body.

That’s why every member of our team is trained in the Cognitive Therapeutics Method™ — a research-based brain health program that supports memory, attention, language, and problem-solving through personalised, one-on-one activities.

Combined with healthy lifestyle habits like regular movement, social connection, and good nutrition, these activities play a vital role in promoting long-term brain health and enhancing quality of life.

🌿 Dementia Action Week

This week is Dementia Action Week (15–21 September) and the theme “Nobody can do it alone” is a thoughtful reminder of what so many people living with dementia, and those who love and care for them, already know.

👉 93% of carers say their role is emotionally demanding.
👉 Families often describe feelings of isolation as friends fall away, not knowing how to interact.
👉 Yet, time and again, people tell us that having even one strong support makes all the difference.

At Home Care Assistance South East Melbourne, we believe it is everyone’s responsibility to create communities where people living with dementia, their families, and carers feel connected, supported and understood.

Let’s all take one small step to reconnect. Whether it’s a call, a visit, or simply starting a conversation. Nobody should face dementia alone.

Today is R U OK? Day.
It reminds us of how powerful a caring conversation can be.
For many people, simply being asked how they are going can make a real difference.

If you ever need support, you can always talk to your Care Manager, Support Worker or call our team on 03 9005 1159.

We are here to listen and to walk alongside you, because every conversation matters.

Hi everyone,

We’re Home Care Assistance South East Melbourne, based in Cheltenham and supporting families across the South East. We’re new to this group and wanted to share something that might be helpful for neighbours, carers, and families in our community.

The government has just announced 20,000 new Home Care Packages will be released before November. For many older Australians, this could be the right time to access support that helps prevent falls and stay safe at home.
With spring encouraging more time outdoors and around the house, it’s also when falls tend to increase, especially for those more vulnerable.

🎥 This 35-second video shows how small changes and the right care can make a big difference. It might help you spot something in your own home or for someone you care about.

If you’d like advice or more info about the Home Care Package release, feel free to call us on 03 9005 1159. We’re always happy to help.

Father’s Day means something different for everyone.

For some it’s celebrating with dads and granddads, and for others it’s a day to remember those no longer with us. However you spend it, a little thought and planning can make the day really special.

Here are a few simple ways to mark the occasion:
✨ Share a meal together, and if you have a support worker visiting on Sunday, they can always lend a hand with preparation.
✨ Head out for a walk, drive or outing to a favourite spot.
✨ Enjoy a quiet game of cards, chess or simply relax with the footy on.
✨ Take some time to swap stories and reflect on treasured memories.

And remember, our team at Home Care Assistance is contactable all weekend. If you have any questions or need a little extra support, please call us on 03 9005 1159!
