Ice packs are a fantastic first-line treatment for pain and inflammation, but are you using them effectively? Here are 5 common mistakes that could be hindering your recovery:

1. Applying Ice Directly to Skin: This can lead to frostbite! Always wrap your ice pack in a thin towel or cloth to protect your skin.

2. Icing for Too Long: While ice is great, overdoing it can be counterproductive. Stick to 15-20 minute intervals, allowing your skin to return to its normal temperature before reapplying.

3. Not Elevating the Injured Area: For optimal results, combine ice with elevation. Keep the injured area raised above your heart to reduce swelling.

4. Using the Wrong Type of Ice Pack: A flexible gel pack or even a bag of frozen peas conforms to the body better than a hard ice cube tray. Make sure your ice pack makes good contact with the injured area.

5. Ignoring Persistent Pain: While ice can provide relief, it's not a cure-all. If your pain persists or worsens after a few days, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment.

We're here to help!

If you are unsure how to use an ice pack properly, please consult with a healthcare professional.

MYTH VS FACT: Lifting weights make you bulky πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈπŸ‹οΈ

Men and women often approach this fitness myth from different perspectives. Male athletes and fitness enthusiasts tend to spend hours in the gym with free weights or machines, hoping for larger looking muscles. For women, this myth can result in a limited use or complete avoidance of free weights and other strength-training exercises.

Yet the fact is, weightlifting on its own does not lead to bodybuilder muscles. It's actually quite difficult to become "bulky". Particularly for women, female hormones prevent excess muscle mass. Lifting actually offers several health benefits for your heart, joints and ligaments, metabolism, posture and balance. It also helps increase strength and energy.
