An Easter road trip or camping getaway can be the perfect way to switch off from the busyness of everyday life… but your back and neck might not be quite as excited about the plan!
A few simple tips can help you arrive feeling good (not stiff and sore):
🔹 Pack lighter
Holidays—especially camping—often mean a lot of gear. Stick to the essentials and avoid overloading bags and boxes.
🔹 Bring your toolkit
If you’re prone to niggles or flare-ups, come prepared. Think heat packs, ice packs, magnesium cream, Fisiocrem/Tiger balm, or a sacroiliac belt.
🔹 Carry with care
Loading and unloading can be a risk zone. Take your time, lift from your knees, and minimise bending and twisting—especially with heavier, awkward items.
🔹 Set up your car seat properly
Hips all the way back, a slight recline, and your head supported—not poking forward.
🔹 Support matters
A small towel or lumbar/neck support in the car can help maintain your natural curves (hot tip: Kmart has great options!).
🔹 Take regular breaks
Stop every 60–90 minutes to walk, stretch, and reset.
🔹 Don’t ignore early warning signs
Tightness and niggles are your body asking for a reset—not something to push through.
Travel is meant to be enjoyed—look after your spine so you can focus on the views, not the pain 🙌
If your trip highlights that your spine needs a little extra attention, we’d love to help get you back on track when you return. Give our practice a call on 9435 9477.
