We’re thrilled to share that our Baby Makes 3 initiative, in partnership with Ballarat Community Health and City of Ballarat, has successfully secured a Respect Ballarat grant. Thanks so much to Respect Victoria and the Ballarat Foundation for this support and for helping prevent gendered and family violence across our community.

This investment recognises the transition to parenthood as a powerful opportunity to strengthen families and prevent violence before it starts.

The grant was submitted to implement Baby Makes 3 across multiple perinatal settings. This project will focus on readiness-building, shared learning, and strengthening workforce capability across antenatal services, maternal and child health, tertiary education, and multicultural and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The announcement was held on Wednesday, 25 February at Federation University Technology Park, with Ingrid Stitt MP, Minister for Prevention of Family Violence, announcing the successful grants.

This funding represents a significant step forward in building a safer, more respectful Ballarat. We’re excited to be part of a collaborative, community-led approach that supports equality from the very beginning.

🎒 School readiness tips (Part 2)

We hope your school children have had a great start back at school.

Shabina, healthAbility Occupational Therapist (Paediatrics), is sharing some more practical tips to help make the morning routine feel calmer and more predictable:

⭐ Use a visual schedule to clearly show the steps of the morning routine. This helps children know what to expect and reduces uncertainty.

⭐ Use visual time cues so children can see how much time they have and what’s coming next.

⭐ Allow an extra 10–15 minutes in the morning and aim for a calm start. Mornings are high-stress periods, and children often mirror how we’re feeling. When we feel calm and unrushed, it helps children feel more settled and ready for the day.

At healthAbility, our Children’s Services are delivered in a supportive, play-based environment, with an integrated approach to support your child’s health, wellbeing and development. We offer both individual and group-based support, including NDIS referrals.
