David Daw - Magic Mobility user and disability advocate - is on a mission!
One year ago, he had a bold idea: invite his local county and city officials to experience Kingston, NY from the perspective of a wheelchair user. Now, in his Magic 360, he’s made it happen – showcasing the everyday challenges wheelchair users face in and around the local area to Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger, Legislator Gina Hansut, and Diversity Officer Dina Suggs.
Part of Ulster County’s ground breaking initiative, David tells us the day was eye-opening, impactful, and deeply meaningful.

This Frontier V6 AT, fitted with a specialised foot controller, left our manufacturing facility this week.
Foot controllers allow users to operate their powerchair using foot movements - offering greater independence for those with limited upper body mobility or poor hand dexterity.

Magic Mobility at the Grand Canyon 🇺🇸

Truman Schoaff from High Country Adaptive Sports recently hosted an event at the Grand Canyon in Arizona, where Sunrise Medical was invited to present our range of powerchairs. The event gave veterans and other people with disabilities the opportunity to trial Magic Mobility chairs in a real-world setting - and what a setting it was!

Over the course of three days, participants tested the XT4 and X8 on trails that led all the way to the rim of the Canyon. Sunrise Medical employees Joseph Roebuck and Mark Espinosa spent quality time with attendees, sharing firsthand insights into the capabilities of the chairs and supporting them as they explored the terrain.

The event had an excellent turnout, and it was a rewarding experience to witness wheelchair users rediscover their independence and the joy of being outdoors, hiking the trails of the Grand Canyon.

“Amazing is the only way I could describe it, to be honest with you. I haven’t been down on West Beach (in Esperance, Western Australia) since I was 16 or 17, and I’m in my 30’s now.”

For Magic Ambassador chasing his son across the sand in his XT4 was more than just a novelty, it was a milestone moment in his life.

“To be able to play chasey with my son at the water’s edge, have my daughter down there and my wife... I live so close, but I haven’t been there in so long. The chair’s given me that freedom again - to explore, to be present with my family.”
