A new Dutch study brought various health care providers together to weigh in on the best practices for supporting patients with vascular cognitive impairment (VCI). VCI a condition where reduced blood flow to the brain causes thinking and memory problems, often after a stroke or heart issue.

The recommendations focused on:
🔹 Pursuing early assessment and cognitive screenings for patients
🔹 Offering personalised mutlidomain treatments
🔹 Priorising long-term support & care coordination

A recent U.S. clinical trial tested laromestrocel in patients with mild Alzheimer’s disease.

They found that:
✅ The treatment was safe, with no serious side effects
✅ Patients experienced slower brain volume loss, especially in the hippocampus
✅ Clinical assessments showed improved cognition and daily living compared to placebo
