We want to thank everyone for your patience whilst we’ve been putting our page together!
Every Monday, we will be using our platform to educate everyone about different disabilities. We would also love to share more about the services we offer

Our first post for the week is on Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder
What is Autism?
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a neurological condition that affects how people communicate and interact with others. It also influences behaviour, leading to repetitive actions and a strong preference for routines. Many people with ASD often face sensory difficulties, and comirbidities such as ADHD, anxiety, depression and OCD This can make it difficult for individuals to create and maintain relationships, and adjust to change.
Despite these challenges, many people with ASD display many strengths! Some are able to sustain their attention on tasks for extended periods of time (hyperfocus) which can increase memory and productivity. Others may live typical lives, and can obtain university degrees, be entrepreneurs or can be extremely creative and artistic.
A common misconception is that autistic people “lack empathy” which far from the truth. Many individuals are highly empathetic but may not display it in a stereotypical way. Many autistic people are capable of understanding emotions and can show love.
Autism is called a “spectrum” because it affects everyone differently. Some people might need little help in their daily lives (Level 1), while others might need more support (Level 2), and some require substantial assistance (Level 3).
Autism is often misunderstood, which means many people don’t get diagnosed as early as they could. This delay can make it harder for them to get the help they need.
At Heal Seal, we understand the unique challenges and strengths of those with autism. We’re here to support you 🤍
