Tempus Fugit! Time indeed flies—I can hardly believe it’s been over two years since I retired. During that time, I’ve often toyed with the idea of writing a book. I weighed two paths: one a personal memoir, the other a clinically focused guide to support others on their journeys of healing and growth. In the end, I chose to dedicate my effort to the latter.
Today, I’m proud to share that my “gunna” has become a “doing.” My book is well underway. This project draws on decades of experience in counseling, education, and rehabilitation, and is shaped by a passion for clarity, compassion, and accessibility. I hope it will resonate with individuals navigating recovery, as well as professionals seeking tools to better support them.
Stay tuned—there’s much more to come!

The Penn-led research, using a dataset of more than 36,000 adults, revealed that going from one to two drinks a day was associated with changes in the brain equivalent to aging two years. Heavier drinking was linked with an even greater toll.

My Partner Won't Stop LYING 😡😔

You might be feeling frustrated, sad, angry or even a bit crazy because all you want is a straight answer without a fight BUT for some reason your partner never seems to be on the same page.

It is not only self destructive, but it also harms your relationship and stunts a relationships growth and development, making it impossible to move forward.

Compulsive lying can be a learned behaviour. It can stem from avoiding conflict and telling the person what they want to hear. It can also occur with people with low self-esteem, so they embellish stories to impress those around them. It can stem back from childhood or past or present relationships.

We have all lied at some point in our lives, it comes naturally for most of us, for instance, we might complement someone’s shirt even if we don’t find it attractive or say we are fine when we are not. However, some people lie out of compulsion. Such a person who’s prone to continuous, often [...

❤️ 💔 The love stories and movies we’ve all grown up watching, portray what real should ideally look like. They glorify relationships and make it seem like a good idea.

After all, who wouldn’t want to ride off into the sunset together and live happily ever after?

But the stories make it look so easy. But if you go and ask any person in a relationship, they’ll tell you, in real life, is sometimes anything but easy.

Come to think of it, no one teaches us how to have a happy, healthy relationship. The movies end when the couple hooks up, the stories end with happily ever after, but no one shows what really happens after.

The best models young couples have is their parents and if they didn’t model it for them, then they will have no idea how to do it on their own.

Almost all relationships have problems. Some couples are better at working through the thick and thin better than others, but they all have them.

This article takes a look at the top five most common problems most relationships face and how a couple can overcome them.

Stigma around addiction may come from old and inaccurate ideas or fear of things that are different or misunderstood. Addiction is a chronic, treatable medical condition from which people can recover and lead healthy lives. Feeling stigmatized can make people with substance use disorders less willing to seek treatment. As a first step, when talking to or about people with SUD, try to use words that aren’t stigmatizing. https://loom.ly/xRxtWRY
