• THE POWER OF LED •Swipe for before and after.

The downtime of monothreads is usually 2 weeks. This is how I kept my obvious downtime to about a week. Prepping with LED for 3 days and using LED post for a 5 days.

What is LED?
It’s the colourful light that emits different wavelengths/colours to target different tissues.

It is a “personal trainer” for the skin, vessels, collagen and muscle.

How does it work?
It accelerates cellular processes by increasing cellular respiration. Giving cells more energy. Calming inflammation. Helping cells regenerate. Healing.

Visible effects over time:
• Builds collagen & elasticity
• Reduces redness, bruises, heals wounds or broken skin.
• Improves complexion

Why do we add it onto treatments?
To enhance the benefits of your treatment results. Aid with improving your skin function. Or preventing downtime.

Results vary between person to person. Dependant upon age, medication, biological makeup etc.

Paired this LED with a couple of the Cosmedix Pure Enzymes to aid in exfoliation.

Enzymes work by removing the superficial layer of the stratum corneum (dead, dull layer). This sends a message to the below layers to increase cell turn over.

Visible effects:
• A brighter complexion
• Glowing or luminous skin
• improved blood flow
• Refined pores/ lines.

Check out my story highlights to see the mono thread journey - feel free to grab these treatments or products for yourself.

Sadly, silk pillow cases will not prevent wrinkles it’s just a gimmick. ⁣

Wrinkles and ageing is unfortunately inevitable. ⁣
There are 2 types of ageing we experience. ⁣
1. Intrinsic ⁣
This means natural aging that occurs from “inside” it can occur from genetics and hormones - to put it simply its the body doing its thing. ⁣
2. Extrinsic⁣
This occurs from things happening “outside” the body like sun exposure, smoking, drinking alcohol, free radicals, not taking care of our skin etc. ⁣

Wether you sleep on cotton or silk your head still weighs approximately 7kgs and it the weight of that is still going smoosh your skin into the pillow. ⁣

The other gimmick around silk linen is that it won’t absorb your skincare.

Many of you would be using the correct skincare to know that once it’s on your face, it absorbs right into your skin before you’ve made it to your bed. So there’s not much left to absorb once your there. ⁣

If your using the correct serums they should be only going one way ⬇️ to the deeper skin layers. ⁣
As for moisturisers, a good moisturiser will also do the same thing. ⁣

Unless the moisturiser needs to be applied liberally for a condition. ⁣

Its not okay for consumers to be lied to on a gimmick when it comes to their skin conditions. ⁣

For patients who have conditions where they need to apply layers; the cream is lying on top of the silk rather than in the cotton. That’s the difference. ⁣

My advice:⁣
Apply the serum give it time to absorb before the next step. ⁣

Ensure your using the correct amount of skincare so that it’s not being wasted on the pillow. ⁣

Ensure all your skincare is well absorbed before hopping into bed. ⁣

Or try lying on your back a short while before rolling over.

Do silk pillowcases help for hair? ⁣
I have no idea! I would imagine it would only help if the silk had a different electrical charge to cotton. ⁣

The dermal industry should open with the hair industry in October.

Our industry has been paired with the beauty industry even though it is considered allied health. ⁣⁣

🎓 Dermal Clinicians (DC) study a bachelor of health science. ⁣⁣
🎓 DC’s are qualified in infection & control procedures as these are necessary in the workplace (even prior to covid). ⁣⁣
🎓 DCs fill the gap between nurse and dermatologist where they treat and manage skin conditions. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There are patients everywhere in Victoria experiencing physical discomfort because their conditions are considered ‘non essential’. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Surely, when restrictions would ease, dermal patients would be put before, or at the very least with the opening of the hair industry. ⁣

No. The roadmap states the date (pending the numbers) is the Monday 23rd November. ⁣
This doesn’t give a patient much time to get skin conditions together before Christmas. Particularly as many of these aren’t covered under Medicare. ⁣
⁣⁣
The beauty industry should open up at the same time as the hair industry on Monday 26 October because they also do extensive learning on infection control and prevention. Some also study anatomy and physiology to understand body processes to prevent cross contamination. ⁣⁣

Please don’t make these industries/patients suffer any longer than necessary. ⁣⁣

Just like foundation - I match your beautiful skin colour to the laser. ⁣

Did you know during laser treatments dermal clinicians specifically tailor the the settings to your skin colour? ⁣

This is because laser can see colour. If the laser settings aren’t matched correctly it can cause pigmentations, bleeding, blisters or burns! 😭⁣🤭🤕

We use physics theories to ensure this doesn’t happen. Patch testing. Communication. Pain scoring and delayed reactions among other things. ⁣

Patient safety is my number one priority. ⁣

👋 Was this tip helpful? ⁣
👋 Be sure to always ask your laser operator what are their qualifications? ⁣

This barely involves movement and you can enjoy it with wine 🍷. ⁣

Think the sloth way to moisturise 🦥 🍷

This can simply be done with bath oil.
🛀 Bath oils are commonly prescribed to eczema patients to soften dry skin and scales. ⁣
🛀 SWIPE to view the amazing bath oil. This will aid in replacing lost lipids/oils that cause the skin to go dry and scaley. No fragrance. Dermatologist tested. ⁣
🛀 There are fragrant essential bath oils out there. However, I wouldn’t recommend these for patients with diagnosed skin conditions. If you are someone like myself with standard dry winter skin I suggest a combo of both the QV and a fragrant oil. ⁣

After using a bath oil, your skin is extremely soft, supple, moisturised and renewed. Sadly, this does go away unless you continue the routine. 🍷 🦥

If you feel like stepping outside your sloth 🦥 nature, applying a moisturiser 🧴 post bath can do wonders. ⁣I know this can be difficult for some 🦥 .

You go girl! 🙌 This skin condition has no cure. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
This is psoriasis. An condition in which skin cells build up and form scales and itchy, dry patches.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Psoriasis is a disorder of the immune system. Some triggers include infections, stress and cold.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Treatments can include medications and topical therapies.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Dermal clinicians can prescribe light therapy and topical treatment. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
As the condition is chronic, treatment is ongoing. Patients usually present during a flare up. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Psoriasis is about managing triggers and flareups. Hopefully, there will be a cure one day 🤞 ⁣

Do you neglect your legs?

In the colder months many of us notice the skin on our legs becomes scaly, crinkly, dry and textured.
To put it simply, this is due to water loss from the outside environment ❄️ and indoor heating. Also, our skin cannot produce enough lipids/oils to make up for what is lost from all those extra hot showers and baths.
The easiest way to counteract this is to cleanse with a shower oil over a soap/shower gel. (SWIPE 👉 to 2 suggestions and tap for where to buy). Soaps/gels foam and strip the skin. Gels can emulsify and gently cleanse. OR use a gentle body wash that is super gentle and contains calming ingredients.
When your all dried off it’s time to give the skin some extra care and a nice barrier. SWIPE 👉 for 2 recommendations. Really it’s just about anything that will moisturise the skin.
Recommendations are available at most chemists so check your local.
This regimen would suit very dry an irritated skin conditions.

No tricks. Just glowing naked skin. Brow gel and mascara.
Meet my favourite potent vitamin C serum in industry: Dermaceutic TriVita C30. In my experience, there is no other Vitamin C serum that can compare.
🍊Skin effects:
Apart from the obvious glowing skin, radiance and luminosity. TriVita will improve skin by increasing hydration, decreasing wrinkles and fighting free-radical damage.
🍊Ingredients matter:
3 forms of encapsulated Vitamin C have been selected to reach several depths in the skin so it can provide the skin with nutrition it cannot receive elsewhere. The effects of this powerful 30% Vitamin C are enhanced by the Vitamin E and Ferulic Acid. Creating one powerful combination.
🍊Want it?
If your interested please head search google for TriVita C30 Melbourne for your local stockist.
I cannot live without my TriVita and I thought I’d share where I get my glow from.

Hot water causes dehydration
Showering or washing your face with hot water will cause TEWL (Trans Epidermal Water Loss.) Meaning dehydration. It can also cause benign vascular lesions and disturbances in the skin particularly for those who have a predisposition e.g. rosacea.
Be sure to cleanse your face, neck and declotte with warm water.
The last thing you want is a red cheeks, nose vessels and a red chest from cleansing your skin.

The repetitive exposure to hot water causes vasodilation in the vessels which stretches them out creating a permanency.

If you have those conditions, these can easily be treated with laser therapy.

As we approach the colder months, it’s important to amp up the skincare on your hands.
Apply a Hyaluronic Acid serum to your hands before bed to add hydration. Secondly, apply your hand cream over the top.
Anti-ageing beauty sleep at its finest.

Eczema awareness month is may and it’s time for truth before it’s almost over.
What works for one patient may not work for another. Unfortunately it’s true, it is all about trial and error. Sadly, these things take time. However, what can reduce the time is ensuring you have seen the appropriate practitioner - Dermal Clinicians are qualified to treat eczema.
I have treated eczema with serums as well as topical lotions from the pharmacy. Topicals coupled with professional treatments has amazing success rates. Once you find what is right for you.
Have you thought about visiting a dermal clinician for eczema?

When your bed becomes snugglier, your skin becomes drier....
SWIPE 👉 affordable economic crisis skincare recommendation.
With the colder weather it’s harder and harder to leave your snuggly bed in the morning. When you decide to get up the first thing you do is put the heater on.
This sucks all the moisture from your skin. The winter dryness begins! So what do you do?
Time to incorporate a serum that contains Hyaluronic acid and/or Vitamin B5 into your regimen.
Hyaluronic Acid or HA loves to drink water and bring it inside your skin. Beating that winter dryness as it holds it within the skin. However, HA can do it better when Vitamin B5 is there. As B5 brings straws so it’s easier to drink. B5 enhances hydration to the skin.
If you want to plump wrinkles, add hydration (water) not oil but most importantly ensure your skin has a strong healthy barrier - Try The Ordinary’s HA and B5 serum for $12.90. Perfect in this “financial climate” Use AM or PM.
