Why won’t they stop slouching? It might not be just a phase… 😕

If your child is constantly rounding their upper back, even when they’re trying to stand tall - it could be a sign of Scheuermann’s Disease, a spinal condition that typically shows up during growth spurts (ages 10–15).

It causes an exaggerated curve in the upper back that can’t be straightened by willpower alone. And while it’s often brushed off as bad posture, it’s actually much more than that 😔

What to know? 👇

➡️ It tends to affect boys more often

➡️ It can cause back pain in about 50% of cases

➡️ There’s often a family history involved

➡️ That rounded back doesn’t “fix” itself with reminders to sit up straight

The good news? Early treatment can really help.

At Peninsula Sports Medicine Group we support growing teens with tailored exercises to ease discomfort, improve mobility, and build strength 💪

Noticed the signs in your teen? Let’s catch it early. Book online here 📲 https://www.lifecare.com.au/psm-group/

Sharp heel pain when you take your first steps out of bed? 😣

You could be dealing with plantar fasciitis, a common condition that affects the thick band of tissue along the bottom of your foot.

If walking first thing in the morning feels like stepping on lego, or you’re getting foot pain during runs or long walks, it might be time to take a closer look 👣

Plantar fasciitis is often triggered by things like poor foot mechanics, tight calves, or unsupportive shoes. And if it’s ignored, it can become a long-term pain... literally 👎

Read more about the signs, causes, and treatment options in our blog 📝 https://www.lifecare.com.au/resources/plantar-fasciitis/

One of the most talked-about injuries in the sporting world is an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear.

ACL injuries are the most common type of knee ligament damage, often resulting in long periods off the field and reduced knee function ⛹️‍♂️

The ACL plays a vital role in keeping the knee stable. It helps control excessive forward and rotational movements and sends important signals to the brain about the joint’s position.

Recovering from an ACL injury can be tough - but you don’t have to do it alone 🙂

Our experienced sports physios at Peninsula Sports Medicine Group are here to help you get back to doing what you love.

We’ll guide you through targeted rehab, teach you how to move safely, and support you with exercises designed to build strength, improve stability, and help prevent future injuries 🦵

🚻 Always scoping out the nearest toilet?
🥴 Leak a little when you laugh, cough, or dash for the bus?
💧 Feel like you can’t quite hold on, even for a moment?

This World Continence Week, we’re shining a light on pelvic health and reminding you that support is just around the corner.

Whether it’s occasional leaks or something more persistent, our pelvic floor Physiotherapists at Peninsula Sports Medicine Group are here to help you take back control 😊

Incontinence isn’t one-size-fits-all. It can stem from a pelvic floor that’s too weak… or sometimes too tense. That’s why an individualised assessment is key to finding the right plan for you.

You deserve to feel confident - at the gym, out with friends, or simply laughing without worry. Let’s help you get there 💙

▪️ACHILLES TENDINOPATHY ▪️

Is your Achilles trying to tell you something? 🦶

Achilles tendinopathy is a common overuse injury that affects the tendon connecting your calf muscles to your heel.

It often shows up as stiffness, swelling, or pain at the back of the ankle and it tends to hit runners, walkers, and anyone spending long hours on their feet 🏃‍♀️

Often, it’s a mix of repetitive strain, increased training load, poor footwear, or uneven surfaces that causes it, and if left untreated, it can stick around for longer than you'd like! 😟

If you’re feeling that familiar ache or tightness, don’t ignore it. Getting on top of it early can make all the difference. Our team at Peninsula Sports Medicine Group is here to help get you back on your feet... literally! 👣

As Men’s Health Week 2025 draws to a close, it’s worth asking - does he still blame that old shoulder injury from 2012 for giving up his favourite sport? It’s a familiar excuse: too old, too stiff, too many nagging pains to keep up with the kids.

But here’s the real deal - it’s not about getting older. It’s about avoiding the problem. The injury itself isn’t what’s holding him back, it’s that he never got the right treatment 😔

This Men’s Health Week, we’re shining a spotlight on this all-too-common scenario. At Peninsula Sports Medicine Group, we often see men carrying persistent pain or injuries they’ve resigned themselves to, thinking it’s just part of life. But it doesn’t have to be this way 🙅‍♂️

What he really needs is a physiotherapist, a tailored recovery plan, and someone to keep him motivated. With the right guidance, he can reclaim his mobility and strength 🙋‍♂️

Encourage him to take that first step. Because a healthier, more active life is within reach 💪 ➡️ https://www.lifecare.com.au/psm-group/

Struggling to leave your cosy bed in the morning? You’re not alone - winter has officially arrived! 🥶

With chilly mornings and shorter days, it’s tempting to hibernate… but too much downtime could be making your joints feel stiffer.

Let’s turn things around with some simple ways to keep those winter aches and pains at bay.

🚶 Keep moving – It might feel counterintuitive, but gentle movement (within your pain limits) can actually help ease discomfort.

🌞 Chase the sunshine – Even a few minutes of sunlight each day can do wonders for your joints and mood.

🛁 Embrace the heat – Warm showers, relaxing baths, and heat packs are your best friends this season.

Staying active in winter isn’t just great for your joints - it’s a powerful way to boost your mood too!
