She starts her day with getting organised (and checking Melbourne’s unpredictable weather ☔🌤️), lunches are often on-the-go, and afternoons are all about planning ahead. After work, it’s time to recharge with a walk and some music 🎧🚶‍♀️
Mia believes in "Supporting participants to build hands-on experience, confidence, and move closer to their goals is what makes this role so special".
No two days are the same — and that’s exactly why she loves it 🙌✨

On Tuesday 14th April Gill Baldwin (one of our directors) presented at the annual CDERP conference. CDERP is the Centre for Disability Employment Research and Practice.
🌟It was an amazing day, providing an opportunity to learn about the latest research coming out of the centre with talks by Dr. Peter Smith and Lauren Pavlidis. In addition to these presentations there were several services invited to deliver presentations about the work they are doing in the Customised Employment field and how the service is helping to shape the disability employment landscape now and into the future.

🧔➡️✨ A bold step for mental health awareness!
4gr Employment Coach Lachie shaved his beard in front of the entire 4gr team after teaming up with to raise awareness for mental health 💙
Not only did he brave the clippers, he also smashed his original $300 fundraising goal by more than double 🙌
Lachie shared his heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported him, saying the love and kindness he received was overwhelming—especially in the lead‑up to the beard coming off. The beard had been his identity and safety blanket for many years, even before joining 4gr, so letting it go was a HUGE personal step.
“It was nerve‑wracking, but for such a worthy cause, it’s something I’m truly glad I did.” 💪💙

☕ Meet the Mentor: Karolina
Karolina’s days are all about meaningful 1:1 mentoring, Work Integrated Learning, and supporting incredible participants—no two days are ever the same. From interview prep to op‑shops, cat cafés, and community gardens 🐱🌱, she’s always out and about making a real difference.
With travel time powered by music blasting 🎶, a little admin, and plenty of coffee, Karolina brings energy and heart into everything she does. She winds down with yoga and quality time at the dog park 🧘‍♀️🐶—the perfect balance to a busy, purpose‑driven day.
Karolina loves being a Mentor—meeting new people, embracing different experiences, and helping others grow. There’s truly never a dull moment 💛

🌟School holidays are the perfect time to reset and refocus 🌟
We encourage all 4gr participants to use this break to explore volunteering opportunities to gain valuable experience, practise for interviews by doing mock interviews, and dont be shy to ask family and friends for support. Take time to set new goals for the term ahead, enjoy quality time with family and friends, and most importantly—stay safe and look after yourself. 💙✨

Nerves at the start, big smiles at the end 😄💙
4gr participant Ian and his mentor Karolina headed out on a Meals on Wheels delivery run in February. Ian was super nervous at first, but he really grew in confidence by the end! They had a great time and will be back again in April 🚗✨
