If every one of us recognised that we, too, are "the other" in relation to other people, we might begin to unravel the very idea of ordering itself.
If this resonated, and you are a women of colour navigating these layers - I'm here to hold space for these conversations and walk alongside you. Feel free to DM me if you'd like to connect and explore this further with support 🤍

Team! These are three current ways to work with me :)
Even minor tweaks to our day to day life can support us to reduce the strain and stimulation placed on our nervous systems.
Here's to keeping things simple and making bite size changes where possible x

Dear ones, which affirmation resonated the most for you?
Grief, despair and rage in our collective is palpable right now and the accumulative layers are weighing very heavily. This a very human experience to be feeling in the face on multiple genoci*des and a political landscape that is resembling an absolute dumpster fire.
If you are needing a soft place to land and process anything that is arising in you, I am available for 1:1 sessions. You can send me a DM or email info@yourinnerlight.com.au. I would love to support you x

There’s a huge emphasis in the wellbeing and therapy space on having a regulated nervous system as the ideal.
This messaging can be misconstrued to mean that when we experience uncomfortable emotions, we should change them, suggesting that signs of emotional charge or sensations we don’t like need to be downregulated to a peaceful state.
Our nervous systems are not wired to be calm and regulated all the time. They are designed to be flexible, allowing for fluctuations, expansions and contractions, enabling us to respond to potential threats and then return to a state of safety and so forth.
Aiming for constant calm and regulation can create more problems if our system senses we are trying to over-correct, control, or change our state before we have attuned to it. A more realistic approach could be prioritising having a connection with our internal world, so we feel we have choice and options in the moment based on the response needed at that time.
Connection always 💎

~Therapist green flag series, part 1: Availability & contact
It's a green flag when a therapist is super clear about:
-Their appointment availability (days and times they can see clients)
-Preferred method of contact e.g. via email, phone or another app like Voxer
-Which days/hours they are available for contact outside of appointments
-The response timeframe for urgent & non-urgent matters
~Why this is important:
-Transparency, consistency and predictability helps build trust and create safety
-Promotes client independence
-Can strengthen rapport between client and therapist
-Role models clear and healthy boundaries
Stay tuned for part 2! Would love to have you follow along for more!

Sometimes even though we consciously want something to be different, subconsciously there may be a part of us that fears whether we can safely hold this new way of being.
For example, we may want more freedom and time to ourselves but subconsciously we have a belief that productivity = worth. Or perhaps the function that productivity plays in our life is to helps us avoid uncomfortable emotions.
These competing desires may create internal conflict within our systems which could look like we are "pushing" freedom and spaciousness away when in reality, there is a part of us that doesn't feel safe or trust what we will do or who we will be once we have more freedom and time for ourselves. This could look like fearing we won't get anything done or that being alone with our own thoughts feels too scary.
Some helpful questions to ask yourself if there is change you want to create in your life:
✍️🏽 What do I think will happen when I make this change?
✍️🏽 What am I afraid will happen when I make this change?
These questions can help unearth any underlying fears regarding our capacity to hold and receive what's on the other side of a change we'd like to make.
Would love to hear how this landed for you,
T

~We know that society is not set up for softness, vulnerability and sensitivity, let alone a place for it being celebrated.
These journal prompts are designed to help you get to know your sensitive parts a bit better and with time, practice and devotion, these sensitive parts can and will have more space to flourish.
Never forget that your sensitivity is your superpower ✨️

~Community~
I recently moved to the land of paella, mediterranean beaches, picturesque mountains and siestas. If that didn't give it away yet...I have moved to Spain 🙃
First time living away from Oz and getting here involved many moving parts. A whole lot of conditioning and fears about my life stage and whether I'm "too old to do this". (Working through the messages we internalise from societies projections is something I'm SO damn passionate about so there's another post coming about that)
Then there was all the logistics. Essentially I packed up my life in Melbourne whilst preparing to start a new life in another country at the same time. Through this shedding of 1 chapter and starting another, many challenges and barriers presented along the way. A time in my life that was up there with the most stressful I've ever faced.
This post is really to highlight community. Family and friends were present for me in a way that I'll always remember with immense gratitude. Endless voiceys, emails, phone calls, tears, laughs, sharing hopes and dreams, helping me process my fears. Being my cheerleader and holding space for what was possible at times where the barriers and challenges felt so tough. The hugs and quality time. Emotional support matched with so much help with logistics, planning and problem solving.
Those nearest and dearest know exactly how much I had to go move through to make this happen and the reason I'm sharing this is because community is one of my highest values. Being an only child is part of why I place such a high value on community and cultivating friendships that are family (also a shoutout to my wonderful family who have been a pivotal part of making this possible.)
My wish is for everyone to have community around them where they feel safe, supported and uplifted.
It's been a little while since I've ran a group event and I'm currently in the creation phase with some heart centred practitioners who are just as committed to bringing community spaces to life as I am. I look forward to creating these and my heart feels happy at the thought.
A reminder that you are never alone 🤍

~Celebrating small wins 🥳~
While it's normalised to celebrate the bigger milestones and achievements, we often bypass or minimise the small wins we experience in our day to day life. Small wins can be things like
🥳Nailing a new recipe
🥳Speaking to ourselves more kindly
🥳Integrating more movement into our day
🥳Ticking off items on our to do list
🥳Setting a boundary
When we recognise these small wins and give ourselves permission to celebrate them, there are more positives from doing this then we may realise.
Regularly focusing on these smaller wins helps build momentum and consistency. Consistency can strengthen neural pathways in the brain and this can aid in behaviour change becoming more automatic and easeful over time.
Celebrating small wins can reduce overwhelm, foster a sense of self-trust and pride and this can create a ripple effect to help us continue moving forward when bigger challenges arise or there are bigger goals we want to achieve.
What's not to love about that? 🙃
Would love to hear your small wins in the comments 👇🏽

I believe there is no better path than an authetic one. Authenticity is magnetic. It can attract what is in resonance and repel what isn't. How incredible is that 🤍

My name is Tracey and I am a registered Counsellor, Certified Nutrition and Health Coach and Sound Healing Practitioner
I have worked with young people, adults and families in the mental health, community and clinical sector for ten years. Some of my experience includes home based outreach support, phone and face to face counselling, case management and support group and workshop facilitation
I am passionate about holistic health and wellbeing and am in constant awe at the level of innate wisdom our body, mind and spirit hold. Some of my big-time loves are:
-Being in nature (waterfalls especially!)
-Yoga and meditation (yin yoga in particular, bless)
-Hula hooping (although challenging, it is super fun and playful!)
-Cooking (nothing beats being creative and ‘whipping up a meal’ from ingredients you already have and pottering around in the kitchen whilst listening to music)
There are many different ways we can look after our wellbeing. Self-care is dynamic and will fluctuate and change, depending on the day, context and our individual needs and circumstances. I believe physical, mental and emotional health is just as important as our spiritual and relational health (our connection to others).
With this in mind, I offer a unique blend of Counselling, Nutrition and Health Coaching, Sound healing and Wellbeing workshops. My special interest is stress management, self-compassion and the body, mind and spirit connection. I work with people’s strengths and strongly believe that when we honour our authentic selves and develop self- awareness, amazing healing and transformation can happen!
