To join Victoria Police, you must meet a standard of medical requirements to ensure you are able to serve the community safely and effectively. Part of these standards is your general eyesight, which doesn't need to be 20/20 but there are some conditions.

Visual aids are now accepted with regards to restoring visual acuity.

If you wear glasses or contacts, your aided vision must be at least:
👁️ 6/9 in either eye
👁️ 6/6 when both eyes are used together, and
👁️ must meet N5 at 30cm and N14 at 1m.

Your glasses must be polycarbonate glasses, which you will not need to purchase until you start your Academy training. You will need two pairs for Academy training and whilst on duty.

Impaired depth perception, eye suppression and impaired field of vision can also impact on your application.
