On Thursday, September 18, 2025, we had the honour of welcoming Ms Despina Giannakopoulou, wife of the late Pavlos Giannakopoulos, and Mr Vasilis Parthenopoulos, President of Panathinaikos Basketball Club, at our Head Office in Preston.
During their visit, Ms Giannakopoulou and Mr Parthenopoulos engaged with our Chief Executive Officer Ms Mary Gakopoulos, as well as Mr Steve Tsalikidis, President of Heidelberg United Alexander Football Club and Treasurer Mr John Mangos, representatives from Victoria Police and the Hellenic Victorian Police Association as well as the President of Panathinaikos Fan Club of Melbourne Mr Chris Roussalis and Mr Kostas Paterakis. They engaged in a discussion regarding our services, mission, vision, and future endeavours, as well as the support we offer to the broader community.
Mr Parthenopoulos also highlighted Panathinaikos’ dedication to supporting individuals with disabilities, particularly through their own basketball team for people living with autism.
Ms Giannakopoulou and Mr Parthenopoulos were given a tour of our Head Office and facilities where they were warmly welcomed by our clients and staff. The tour highlighted the various programs and services offered by our organisation, showcasing our commitment to enhancing the quality of life of vulnerable individuals. Our clients showed Ms Giannakopoulou and Mr Parthenopoulos the artwork they prepared for Panathinaikos visit in Melbourne, which left them emotional.
Before leaving, Ms Giannakopoulou and Mr Parthenopoulos thanked the staff and clients for their warm hospitality and promised to continue supporting AGAPI Care’s endeavours. Their visit left a lasting impression, strengthening the bond between the Panathinaikos Basketball Club and the local community, united in a shared vision of inclusivity and support for all.
