With Myopia Awareness around the corner, we would like to support ways to help manage this common condition.
What is myopia?
Myopia, or short-sightedness, causes objects in the distance to be blurry, with short or near vision remaining clear.
How can I stop my child getting myopia?
Whilst there is no guaranteed way to prevent myopia, there are 3 simple things you can do to help.
1. Screens Down, Eyes Up! Reduce the amount of leisure time on digital screens and/or look at objects in the distance.
2. Spend time outdoors. Spending 2 hours outdoors a day is recommended to prevent myopia.
3. Have regular eye tests. Have your child checked with an optometrist at least once every 2 years.
