Cathie Sherwood's Family History Academy is running a series of "Snapshot Interviews" which are free to attend - via Zoom.

The first one was held this morning and featured Catherine Desmarais and Michael S. Ramage talking about forensic genealogy and their new book Forensic Genealogy: Theory and Practice. The session ran for 30 minutes. Very interesting, and lots of food for thought, particularly around ethical and legal considerations, paricularly if doing work for other people.

Cathie is an Australian genealogist based in Queensland.

You can sign up for the series on her website.

Join Family History Academy’s The SnapShot Interviews: A Conversation with… – a free, engaging series featuring genealogy experts sharing insights, answering live audience questions, and exploring topics like DNA, AI, and research fundamentals. Recorded sessions available for three months!

Not too long to wait now till we get the new updated FreeBMD. It's been a long wait! Don't forget to check out FreeCen and FreeReg which are also part of the FreeUK Genealogy family. However, they are still works in progress, so not all census records or parish registers have been transcribed. They are always seeking volunteers to join the project.

As a volunteer-led charity, your donations and support have played a big part in helping us to reach this point.

On behalf of everyone at FreeUKGEN and the wider genealogy community, thank you!

Having reached our target for this year, we’ll be able to complete the remaining pages and features for FreeBMD2.

The testing will take place in Spring next year and then we can release FreeBMD2 for your use.

Watch this space for more news and updates!

Thank you again for your help and support. We appreciate it greatly.
