SOME FAQ’s AROUND MUSCULOSKELETAL THERAPY AND MYOTHERAPY...
What is your philosophy about natural healing and the work you do?
As a movement specialist my approach to health and healing is proactive and client-centred. My practice reflects the protocols of natural medicine by aiming primarily to address the cause of the problem, as well as the symptoms.
MST/Myotherapy aims:
- to restore balance in the body - homeostasis - by directly influencing the physical body structures and internal processes, while improving the broader physical condition and movement awareness for the client.
- to reduce or eliminate pain and/or pain medication requirements of the client.
- act as a client resource for integrated movement and musculoskeletal healthcare, aligned with the principles of natural medicine.
____
By encouraging my clients to be more involved in their progress, a greater degree of change can be achieved. For them this means the end of dysfunctional habits and the start of better quality of movement and life.
How do you ensure your clients receive the best quality of service?
Truth+Body clients can expect an engaging and informative experience with clear, measurable results. Clients report positive benefits for both the immediate problem and also in the broader aspects of their life and health.
MST is a modality in which the clients are involved from the start, ensuring the treatment is tailored to suit individual needs and goals.
This all takes place in the peaceful, positive environment of the Truth+Body clinic, supported by premium customer service.
What is the potential impact of not seeing you?
Truth+Body clients quickly understand the value of regular appointments, as momentum of change builds and positive results solidify in the body. Discussion in treatment and ongoing support is a part of the MST experience
A standard consulation:
During an individual private session, we will use various techniques to assess, identify and correct postural, soft tissue, movement & joint dysfunction.
These can include:
Superficial or Deep Tissue Massage, Joint Articulation techniques, Muscle Energy techniques (MET), Positional Release techniques, Myofascial and Trigger Point Release, Myofascial dry needling (MDN), cupping, TENS and electro dry needling, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, Stretching and strengthening techniques, Manual Lymphatic Drainage.
Client participation with these techniques helps the nervous system understand the body's relationship to the dysfunction, guiding it toward correction. The client may also be provided with some home exercises to integrate the bodywork after the session is complete. This might take the form of a stability or strength exercise, a simple awareness shift or minor change to your routine.
Can I claim through private health insurance?
Yes, Musculoskeletal Therapy / Myotherapy and Remedial Massage rebates can be claimed from most Australian health funds.
What qualifications and experience do you have?
Musculoskeletal Therapists complete a 3-year Bachelor of Health Science degree program and are recognised as primary health care providers.
MST’s are trained to communicate with practitioners of other modalities and are well equipped to integrate with the client’s general medical requirements. Although welcome, no medical referrals are required.
I have a special interest in thoracic and spinal dysfunction, with experience working with cardio-thoracic patients before and after surgery, athletes and dancers.
Participation is key! I try to encourage everyone I work with to get involved in all aspects of an active, physical, movement-conscious and sustainable lifestyle. I can't wait to work with you!
