Our community came together to celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut — Israel’s 78th Independence Day. The room was filled with blue and white pride as everyone sang, danced, and shared this meaningful occasion.
A vibrant musical performance by Sadya Liberow from Chazzan Hamerkaz Shelanu, accompanied by Mendy Winner on guitar, brought the celebration to life, filling the room with energy and smiles.
It was a beautiful reflection of what we cherish at Emmy: tradition, connection, and celebrating together.

On Yom HaShoah, our community came together to remember, reflect, and honour the lives and stories of those lost. We are grateful for the insights of Dr Simon Holloway (Melbourne Holocaust Museum), the beautiful voices of the Leibler Yavneh College Choir, John Kraus reciting the Kaddish, and the leadership of Rabbi Ronnie Figdor OAM. Through remembrance, we strengthen our commitment to resilience, hope, and humanity.

Our new community bus has arrived, giving residents more opportunities to enjoy the excursions and outings they love. With upgraded safety features, greater comfort and adaptable seating, it will help us run more frequent and more inclusive trips.
We are deeply grateful to loyal Emmy donors, Tab and Eva Fried, whose generosity made this bus possible. Their connection to Emmy spans more than two decades; donating the funding for the first bus to Emmy in 2006.
To mark this wonderful occasion, we hosted a joyful ribbon‑cutting celebration, honouring Tab and Eva’s donation and their long‑standing connection to Emmy. Residents, staff and families so appreciate the arrival of this new bus, which strengthens Emmy’s presence in the community with outings that are deeply valuable.
The event concluded with a beautiful speech delivered by David Fried, son of Eva and Tab, on behalf of his family. His words perfectly captured the spirit of the day and the lasting impact of the Fried Family’s commitment to Emmy.

We were honoured to welcome Dorit Jaffe, CEO of Hadassah Australia, and Dr Mark Suss to Emmy earlier this week. Their warm and personal presentation about the extraordinary work of the Hadassah Medical Organisation truly uplifted our residents.
A particularly special moment was learning that our resident Esther Shnaier was born at Hadassah Hospital — a beautiful personal connection to Hadassah’s long‑standing legacy of care.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dorit and Dr Suss for sharing their passion, stories and dedication with our community. We look forward to welcoming them back to explore more of Hadassah’s remarkable work.
