Winter is well and truly here, and the Market is proud to be supporting Off Your Back again this year. This grassroots organisation collects clean, pre-loved coats and jackets in good, wearable condition to redistribute to Victoria’s homeless men, women and children.

Sometimes the Op Shop isn't the best place for unwanted items. Over the years I've learnt of many charities that take items that Op Shops would simply throw into landfill eg. Project Uplift for Bras, St Kilda Mums for kids stuff or the local Optometrist for reading glasses. A lot of decluttering is about responsible and informed waste management. The less going to landfill the better I say!

Letting go of possessions is a process. Some find this easier than others. I started to become more mindful of the items I keep many years ago. I still do a periodic review and cull as things keep coming in. I've learnt over the years what to hold on to and and what to let go of. I love having a home where I can easily find the things I love and use and where I feel calm and can recharge from the busyness of the world...
