If you’re hypermobile, you might feel extra flexible — but flexibility doesn’t always equal stability. Hypermobility means your joints move beyond the normal range, which can lead to pain, instability, fatigue, and even frequent injuries.

This is why strength training is one of the BEST things you can do if you’re hypermobile.

The Beighton Score is a quick way to measure joint laxity:

🗯 Mobility is the capacity of your joint to move in space to a specific degree, which we know to be a safe movement.

🗯 Strength is the capacity to move a load via your musculoskeletal system.

🤔 Not everyone has the same capacity of mobility.

👉 0 to 2 - Hypomobile
👉 3 to 4 - Norms
👉 5 to 9 - Hypermobile

😉 Based on a combination of how many Hypermobile joints you present with, along:
🌱 Index Finger extensions x 2
🌱 Elbows extension x 2
🌱 Knees extensions x 2
🌱 Forward Hip Flexion (both palm touching the floor) x 1
🌱 Thumb Abdaction (passive - thumb touch the forearm) x 2

🙃 Once we establish your overall mobility, we can look into improving what needs to be improved and strengthen what needs to be strengthened.

🙌 Indeed, a Hypermobile joint needs some form of protection, which comes from conscious movement and strengthen of the muscle tissue in that across the joint.

😉 This way, we limit the risk of injury and pain that you may experience given the lack of joint mobility control.
