I'm excited to share my first blogpost on a topic that should hopefully be very useful to many people: how to find a good therapist!
I wrote this based on a conversation I had with a friend a while back, when she was bemoaning how hard it is to find the right therapist. Her difficulties with this process inspired me to deep dive on the research for what works in therapy, at a deeper level than just trying to figure out what the "best therapy" is (spoiler: it doesn't exist - read the post for more on that).
The post covers practical tools for finding a therapist, important qualities to look for in a therapist, and finally the attitude you as a client can bring to therapy to make it more effective. Reading it should not only help you find a good therapist but also provide clarity on what good therapy looks and feels like. I hope it can make therapy a more useful and powerful tool for everyone who reads it.
Also, have you had success finding a good therapist? Do you agree with what's in the post or is there something you can add to my advice? Let me know in the comments or get in touch!
Doing your research before you start with a therapist could make all the difference. Read these tips and tools to learn why the kind of therapy usually doesn't really matter but the kind of therapist really does, and how to use this knowledge to find the best therapist for you.
