Reclaim. This was my 2025 intention upon the year ending. I chose reclaim as I turned 42 last year and there were different forms of reclaiming for me. Through my own personal inner work, there have been lots of internal shifts and healing over the last few years including reclaiming Posttraumatic Growth. I’m now excited for the next phase- action and momentum to take the shifts to outward, actionable, tangible and behavioural results. After all, 2026 is the year of the horse!

What was your 2025 intention or theme? What would you like to continue from 2025 into 2026? What would you like to let go of in 2026 from 2025? It may be old trauma holding patterns from childhood. Depression or shame. Traumas from experiencing domestic or family violence. Old defences that no longer serve you.

Agency. This is my 2026 intention as I turn 43 next month. Like many people, New Year’s resolutions don’t seem to work for me. The resolutions are too unrealistic in a short space of time, leading to self-doubt, procrastination, wavering motivation and inaction. Agency means having a clear sense of self-control over your life and self-identity. It is a recognition of your ability to change thoughts and behaviours and responsibility, regulate emotions healthily and an inner, unwavering knowing that you can cope with a wide range of tasks, situations and decision-making.

I’ve been using themes and intentions over the last few years which have continued to work better for me; more flexibility, it’s an anchor word, I can create consistent action throughout the year that centres around the theme (after all, change and action can happen anytime of the year, not just 1st Jan!) and it creates self-compassion, action taking and discipline (important ingredients for sustaining meaningful change and habits as well as solid neural pathways!)

Happy New Year!

Hope you have a prosperous, healthy, joyful and peaceful 2026! 2026- the year of the horse! We look forward to being back on deck tomorrow Saturday 3rd January having had some rest and recharge over the last few weeks. Look forward to bringing back mental health minute livestreams and a few other big plans and surprises in store for this year following a big and busy 2025. Gallagher Psychology is now closed from 20th December 2025 and will reopen on Friday 3rd January 2026. We look forward to resting and recharging over the holidays to service our wonderful clients in the new year- big things in the pipeline for 2026 too after a big 2025!

Many thanks to our followers, supporters and clients for the support this year- it has been a challenging and big year with the fallout of the last few years and mental health toll, especially with the past week’s Bondi Beach senseless tragedy. Take care of you during the festive season- it is very normal to experience mixed emotions during this time.

EMDR Intensives offer an accelerated way to heal which is great for those who want meaningful therapeutic outcomes in a shorter timeframe. Instead of weekly or fortnightly sessions, EMDR Intensives offer focused, extended EMDR treatment and support over a shorter period of time, allowing you to move through trauma with clarity, compassion, and momentum without it feeling stop/start.

Safety is the key to feeling secure, playful, happy, content, peaceful, confident and provides a foundation and a base towards self-actualisation and a path to thriving.
Safety doesn’t just mean physical safety, this also means psychological and emotional safety. When consistent, safety creates trust, green flags in a relationship or friendship and a greater ability to withstand and tolerate difficult emotions, as well as being protected from harm or danger.

Happy International Women’s Day! Here’s to not only today, but everyday in recognising women’s achievements, women’s rights and raising awareness around discrimination and violence against women (including the more insidious verbal and psychological). Here’s to everyday creating a call to action to create equality and empowerment. To build solidarity and agency.

To the mums, grandmothers and daughters, to the women who are showing up in doing the inner recovery and healing work from trauma, to the women who’ve experienced family violence and or intimate partner violence, to the women who have experienced sexual abuse, to the women who’ve experienced childhood trauma. I see, acknowledge and honour you.
To the sisterhood, let’s collectively embrace equity.

How do I relax? My current holiday in Vietnam is a testament to that. Here I’m soaking up the views of a mountain I’d just climbed in Ha Long Bay. I take relaxing, being off-grid and self-care very seriously in the line of work that I do in walking the talk and how I best serve my clients and colleagues, so that I can properly fill my cup and give my all in my work, particularly in the areas of trauma treatment and recovery that I do.
