NAIDOC Week at Royal Rehab LifeWorks.

NAIDOC Week is a time to reflect, to listen, and to honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the world’s oldest continuing cultures.

This year marks a significant milestone: 50 years of NAIDOC. The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” is a powerful reminder that the future is being shaped by young First Nations leaders, grounded in the strength of their ancestors, inspired by the vision of their communities, and driven to carry forward a proud legacy.

We recognise that true healing extends beyond the physical. It’s about connection, to land, to culture, to each other. It's about listening to the voices of First Nations people and supporting a future shaped by self-determination, cultural strength, and community-led leadership.

As we mark this milestone NAIDOC Week, we reaffirm our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, standing with First Nations peoples in their continued fight for justice, equality, and recognition. And we celebrate the next generation: strong, visionary, and ready to lead.

Together, we honour the past, stand with the present, and look ahead with hope.

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week 2025. It's a time for all Australians to reflect, learn, and take meaningful steps toward a more united future.
Royal Rehab LifeWorks acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of this land, and we pay deep respect to Elders past, present, and emerging. Their enduring connection to Country, culture, and community continues to enrich our nation.
This week reminds us that reconciliation is not a single moment, but an ongoing journey. A truly reconciled Australia can only be realised when First Nations peoples are empowered to contribute equally and meaningfully to our national life.
At Royal Rehab Group, we are committed to deepening our understanding, strengthening relationships, and embedding sustainable, long-term actions that drive real change across our organisation and beyond.

At Royal Rehab LifeWorks, we’re proud to be part of the Royal Rehab Group, where women make up 70% of our workforce and play a vital role in shaping the future of health and disability services.

Yesterday, we joined colleagues from across the Group for an inspiring panel discussion, hosted by our COO, Denise Thomas. The panel featured women from within Royal Rehab as well as those who have made a significant impact in their fields. The conversation was real and unfiltered—covering the challenges women face in their careers, the importance of embracing discomfort, and the power of backing yourself. The key message? Ask for support, push past doubt, and always lift up those around you.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in this meaningful discussion. Here’s to breaking barriers and supporting the next generation of women in leadership!

We wish you a safe, joyful Christmas and a New Year filled with love, peace, and new beginnings.

Today is International Day of People with Disability—a day to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.

This year’s theme, ‘Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,’ emphasises the critical role of leaders with disabilities in creating stronger, more inclusive communities. It’s an opportunity to honour their contributions and the meaningful change they inspire.

Across Royal Rehab Group, we are proud to support individuals in achieving their goals and embracing their leadership potential. Together, we can create a future where diversity and inclusion are celebrated and embedded in everything we do.

Celebrating OT Week 2024!

This week, from 21-27 October, we’re joining the nation in celebrating the incredible work of Occupational Therapists! Throughout Royal Rehab LifeWorks, we’re recognising the vital role OTs play in empowering individuals, families, and communities to live fuller, more independent lives.

Occupational therapy helps people participate in the activities that matter most, whether it’s returning to work, enjoying hobbies, or navigating daily tasks. With a strong foundation of innovation, compassion, and care, our OTs make a real difference every day.

Here’s to celebrating their dedication and the positive impact they continue to have. Happy OT Week!

R U OK? A Simple Question, Every Day.

Today we recognise the importance of R U OK? Day, a national day of action reminding us all to check in with those around us. This year’s theme highlights that life happens every day, and so should the question, “Are you OK?”

With 72% of Australians reporting higher levels of distress, it’s more crucial than ever to look out for one another—not just today, but all year round. Asking “Are you OK?” can make a significant difference, helping people feel more connected, supported, and cared for.

Let’s not wait for a special day to ask the question. Check in with the people in your life regularly. A simple conversation can make all the difference.
