A cup of tea, needle and thread 🧶

Stitching In Colour is a creative and therapeutic group run by Pola Psychology with the purpose of connecting like-minded folk with the restorative and rhythmic practice of stitching.

Used across cultures to mend, beautify, process, protect, protest, grieve, connect and indicate place and identity, stitching in its simple and intricate form has given voice to historical personal and collective events. We invite you to create in this space together.

Facilitator, Avrille Burrows (Mental Health Clinician and Arts Therapist) engages in her own artistic practice alongside her clinical work and uses the act of stitching as a regulating and therapeutic outlet and means to express.

🧶No experience necessary, support and materials provided, or bring along a project to work on.

🧶This is an open group where we hope to share skills and encourage each other's creative connections.
🤎This space and workshop prioritizes those who identify as a Person of Colour.

🏳️‍🌈This is a LGBTIQ+ friendly space.

Cost: $40 per person/per session

2023 is around the corner and Pola Practice has an announcement!

We intentionally create workshops that incorporate mental health literacy and culturally responsive practices.

A “one size fits all” workplace burnout prevention is ineffective as it assumes a monolithic workforce that does not reflect the diversity within most organizations.

On February the 16th, we will be running a burnout prevention workshop. It is specifically catering to Women of Color, particularly those in leadership, senior or management. We believe that they have unique challenges when it comes to burnout and also specific strengths when it comes to burnout prevention and recovery.

This is an introduction into a different way of understanding burnout and pathways for recovery and ultimately prevention.

This workshop is virtual and will take place via Zoom.

Book now, spots are limited!

Pola Practice is teaming up with Ubuntu Project to host our second "Black in Business" event on December .

"Black in Business" is a networking event made for and by the African Australian Diaspora to engage in banter, business and Black Excellence.

The African Australian Diaspora often lack spaces that celebrates our uniques in our diverse identities.

We wish to create a space where you don't have to leave your Africanness at the door, where you can be your full self and explore professional relationships in a safe environment.

It’s a FREE event, but registrations are crucial for catering and capacity requirements.

See you on the Sunday 11th of December!
