Goal setting, are you a lover or a hater of them?
I have set many goals in the past, some i have achieved and some not so much 😜 Sometimes i'm totally committed and other times i'm setting the goal for lip service without much inner belief that i can have success at achieving what i know deep down would make me feel so much better. Can you relate?
Today I have set myself one of thoes goals but this time i am making a committment to myself to really see it through. I know a lot more about health and the impact an imbalance in hormones can have on a women's overall weight and emotional health. I know the steps to fix it, i just need the tenacity to stick at the tasks to achieve a better result.
So what do we need to do to achieve a goal we set?
1. Spend some time each morning visualsing achiving this goal and how you will feel each day completing the task to achive it, and how you will feel when you achieve the end result. I am scheduling about 15 minutes each morning to do this.
2. Create accountability, d**g something in partnership is easier then a solo journey.
3. Set smaller task achievements within the bigger goal so that you can have incremental feelings of success.
4. Don't allow yourself to overthink things. Our thoughts can get in the way of us acheiving success. If success is not a familiar feeling to you or you don't have enough inner love and self compassion to know you deserve the thing you desire then you might fall back to the default position of what feels comfortable and familiar.
5. The company we keep can have a huge impact on how we feel and how we spend our time. If you want to accomplish something, surround yourself with people who are working toward (or have accomplished) that same goal. Use their achievements as your motivation, and let the positive vibes sink in.
6. Take some time along the journey to look back and become truly aware of the achievements you have made so far. Two ways to document this is by either journalling or taking photos. Sometimes its hard to see the incremental changes but with the evidence in your hands its hard to deny it. This will help to fuel on future success.
7. Prep for success, the brain can essentially “run out” of patience or self-control, making it important to eliminate opportunities for slip ups. So instead of trusting future-you to do the right thing, make tough choices easier by prepping for them when you’re already feeling motivated.
8. Lastly and maybe the most important, 'know that you can do it'. While self-control can be depleted, researchers have also found that effect can be counteracted by simply believing that you have the self-control to accomplish your goals. Our inner dialogue is something we have control over, instead of allowing yourself to say "i can't", stop yourself and say "i can".
