Today is R U OK Day, a national reminder to pause and check in with the people around us. Its purpose is simple but powerful: to spark conversations that might change a life.
So much of our work at MiCare is about asking others if they are OK, holding space for difficult conversations and supporting people through challenges. But today is also a reminder that it’s just as important for us to check in with each other and to say out loud when we’re not OK.
R U OK Day isn’t only about one day of the year. It’s about building a culture where looking out for each other happens every day.
Not sure how to ask? Try these conversation starters:
“How’s your day really going?”
“What’s been on your mind lately?”
“How are you travelling with everything?”
“I noticed you’ve seemed a bit quiet, how are you?”
Please remember you’ve got support here, through your colleagues, through your managers, and through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) if you or your family ever need it (1300 364 273, available 24/7).
Thank you for the way you show up, not just for our residents and clients, but also for one another
