WE CAN NO LONGER PRACTICE PHYSICAL REHABILITATION IN THE MODERN ERA WITHOUT CONSIDERATION OF BRAIN.

Various brain and limbic system structures have been implicated in processing noxious information. The anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), is a region long thought to modulate higher order processing of noxious input related to the affective/motivational component of pain. However, recent research is even suggesting that more than just affective aspects of pain, the ACC has the capacity to modulate pain intensity itself!

Interestingly, it appears that the ACC has an important relationship with the peripheral nervous system in a manner that is likely relevant to conditions that are commonly encountered in physical rehabilitation practice: The ACC has been shown to be strongly activated in peripheral nerve injury and ACC lesions have been shown to selectively decrease negative affect associated with neuropathy-induced hypersensitivity.

Our Approach

Optimize Sports Chiropractic is dedicated to providing optimal health care to everyone, from elite athletes to members of the general public.

To help in the prevention and/or management of injury, performance enhancement, or to support optimal function and health, an accurate diagnosis and health goals are first required. This is achieved through a detailed history, comprehensive examination and, if necessary, selection of appropriate investigations. Once an accurate diagnosis is made, the appropriate multi-modal management approach can be designed and implemented for the individual.

At Optimize Sports Chiropractic, we take a holistic approach to health care, with a strong focus on the entire neuromusculoskeletal system, which includes the spine, the extremities (e.g. foot/ankle, knee, shoulder), joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and the nervous system.

Through comprehensive neuromusculoskeletal (neuro-orthopedic) evaluation, diagnosis and individualized multi-modal management, Optimize Sports Chiropractic is dedicated to help you achieve optimal Movement, Function, Performance and Health.
