Budget Breakdown: What does it mean for disability advocacy?

The 2025–26 Federal Budget is out—and people with disability have been left invisible. We, along with other Disability Representative Organisations, have released a joint statement you can read here: https://ow.ly/zkqN50VoOiw

For advocates, the Budget presents some small wins, but major gaps remain—particularly in funding for advocacy, appeals, and a continued lack of response to the Disability Royal Commission recommendations.

Advocacy Win: Changes to NDIS Reassessment!

Thanks to strong advocacy from DANA and the disability community, the NDIA has made significant changes to its controversial NDIS eligibility reassessment process!

✅ 90 days (not 28) to provide documents
✅ More transparency by March 2025
✅ ART (Tribunal) decision reinforces fairer processes

People with disability were unfairly forced to prove once more their lifelong conditions. More changes are needed, and DANA will keep pushing for fairness.
