Doctor Spotlight!
Today's Dr Spotlight is Dr Chris Ineson, who joined the GPs at Blackburn Clinic in 2021. Dr Ineson brings unique experience to his practice, having a surgical background in the UK. Outside of work, he enjoys kayaking, cycling, and quality time with his family.

We will be open in the Main Clinic suite on Monday 9th of March for walk-in appointments only, 8am till 12pm.

After over 26 years working as a GP at Blackburn Clinic, Dr Janice Kreltszheim has made the decision to retire in April 2026.

A note from Janice:
“This has not been easy, as I love so many aspects of my work, especially the patients that I have been privileged to meet and care for. However, grandparenthood, downsizing and caring for my own elderly relatives, as well as some travel and volunteer work at our local church and the charity Wise Choices for Life in Africa, are now calling for my time and attention. Many of my regular patients will want to know, “Which GP should I see now?”, and I’d encourage you to make an appointment with me to discuss this and to tie up any loose ends.”

Janice’s last day at Blackburn Clinic will be Thursday 16th April.

She is eagerly anticipating the birth of a grandchild just a few days later!
I’m sure many of her patients will join us in wishing Dr. Janice Kreltszheim a very long, healthy, happy and fulfilling retirement.

Protect yourself against Shingles.

Shingles is a viral infection that causes a painful blistering rash. While most symptoms typically last 2-3 weeks, it can lead to nerve pain that can last for months. Other serious complications include pneumonia, hearing problems, blindness and swelling of the brain. About 1 in 3 people will get shingles in their lifetime.

Eligibility for the 2-dose course of Shingrix® includes:
• People aged 65 years and older
• First Nations people aged 50 years and older
• Immunocompromised people aged 18 years – discuss with your GP to determine whether you are eligible
For any other eligibility concerns, book an appointment with your GP to determine whether you qualify.

2026 flu vaccines are now available for bookings!

Book online or via the AMS Connect app by selecting Location 'Blackburn Clinic' and then 'Flu Vaccine', or phone the clinic.

'Flu Clinic' consultations will be billed to Medicare. If you have your flu vaccine in a normal consultation with your regular GP, normal consultation fees will apply.

For patients not eligible for a Government flu vaccine, the vaccine will cost $20.

To be eligible for a Medicare rebate you will need to have been seen in the clinic face-to-face within the last 12 months.

Saturday appointments are optional. If you miss out on a booked appointment you can still walk in and wait on Saturdays. The GPs will see booked patients as close as possible to the appointment time, and will see walk-ins as well.

Sundays remain walk ins only.

This Care Plan is about comprehensive ongoing support for people living with chronic health conditions, aiming to maximise health outcomes and keep your care consistent and well-coordinated.

You can see your regular GP as often as every 3 months specifically to review and manage your chronic condition. If you need to see your GP for other medical issues, or if visits regarding your chronic condition are more frequent than every 3 months, those appointments will be billed at your GP’s usual rates.
