What is Dupuytren’s Contracture Release?
Dupuytren’s Contracture is a hand condition that causes one or more fingers to bend towards the palm due to thickening and shortening of the connective tissue (fascia) beneath the skin. This can lead to restricted movement and difficulty in performing daily tasks, such as gripping or holding objects.
Surgical removal of the diseased cords should be performed before long term joint flexion deformity becomes permanent. During surgery, nerve and vessels are protected from injury while the disease is removed to allow normal hand function.
